✦ AI summary

Dungeon Souls is a bite-sized roguelite dungeon crawler that players find addictive, with satisfying progression systems and plenty of class variety to encourage multiple runs, though some appreciate the Risk of Rain 2 inspiration while others feel the pacing is slow and enemies are too tanky. Common technical issues include non-functional controller support despite being advertised, mouse capture problems that make dual-monitor play frustrating, and occasional spawning mechanics that punish players for stopping to level up.

Feels like an old school roguelike dungeon crawler. My only pet peeve is the random monster spawn, so you can't really stop. I died because I stopped to level up...

Bite sized roguelite with hordes of enemies to kill and ability to develop your chosen hero into overpowered menace, so description regarding inspirations was on point, especially about Risk of Rain 2. A bunch of first playthroughs were not that long and with almost nothing left after them, but after ball started rolling with in-between upgrades it became like an avalanche. Gameplay is simple 2d action roguelite mixed with dungeon crawler, lots of rng invites replays to see everything Dungeon Souls has to offer, and considering price of admission it’s well worth it. Graphics are 2d pixel art without much sophistication and audio is simple to match. Plot is present, that’s all.

Stated support for xbox controller is wrong. Game doesn't register anything at all. Unresolved issue since at least 2018, see the discussions page. Game also does NOT capture the mouse for mouse and keyboard controls, so a second monitor makes this virtually unplayable. AND when you click outside the game you have to alt-tab to get back since it doesn't show in the task bar.

Easily one of the most addictive dungeon crawlers I've played in a bit. Plenty of classes to try different runs to keep the game electric for hours!!!

Apart from nice art, the game is pretty bad. We walk so slowly we can't really flee the traps and the ennemies are just bullet sponge. The game seems to support controllers but my xbox controller didn't work.
