About PARQUET

✦ AI summary

A protagonist born from thousands of stolen memories searches for his true identity while living with two girls scarred by the same unethical technology that created him. This all-ages visual novel blends cozy slice-of-life moments with a deepening mystery about what it means to be human.

Parquet is an upcoming Japanese-style visual novel produced by Yuzusoft Sour, a Japanese developer of romance VNs.

In the near future, a technology called Brain-Machine Interface connects the brain and machines. This technology brings about a new paradigm and opens the gates to the digitization of human memory itself.
From these new discoveries, "he" is born. An illegal experiment mixes thousands of memories into a single vessel, creating a wholly new being.
Having only the memories of others, doubts about who he truly is start arising in his mind, until he gathers the courage to go out into the world in search of his true self.
As he steps into the real world, he meets two girls, Kido Tsubasa and Ibaraki Rino.
Both kind souls whose lives have been touched by unscrupulous BMI experiments, just like him.
Learning to live together with their secrets, "he" and "they" will bring about big changes...

Key points:
  • Yuzusoft's first-ever original All-Ages game
  • Curious living together experience with girls between day and night
  • An intriguing mystery that unfolds itself as the story advances

Ibaraki Rino (VA: Touyama Nao)
Night Rose
Likes: Drinking (She enjoys the good company more than the drinks themselves)
This loner might seem distant and cold at first, but below the bravado lies a compassionate, gentle soul that yearns for what she never had.

Kido Tsubasa (VA: Touyama Nao)
Daytime Sunflower
Likes: Delicious food (High in calories) Ramen, Pizza, Hamburgers, junk food.
This enigmatic girl exudes confidence and friendliness. Her affable personality and big heart are only rivaled by her bottomless appetite.

Ibuki Kanato
Frankenstein Soul
A special man born from myriad memories.
Born under abnormal circumstances, this man searches for meaning in a world with no answers.
Will he find the answer to his questions? Can the puppet become human?

✦ AI summary

PARQUET is praised by players for its exceptional visual quality, crisp artwork, expressive character sprites, and impressive technical settings, though opinions on the narrative and characters are mixed. While some find the story engaging with memorable character moments and a worthwhile after-story, others feel the main narrative is basic and relatively short at 6-8 hours, with a protagonist who lacks personality and limited player agency since there's essentially only one route with minimal choices.

A captivating visual novel about a "man" born from mere memories of skills and ideas on his quest to see what humanity has to offer. To see what "normal" is to someone far from such. Along the way, he comes across the energetic Tsubasa and the aloof Rino. As the player learns more about them, they will also learn about the very unique circumstances that tie the women together. Plenty of laughs, cute moments, and drama dot the journey throughout. As is par for Yuzusoft, the graphics, audio, and voices are superb. The technical depth of the Settings menu alone left my jaw hanging for the sheer number of functions packed into it. The most critical one IMO is a timer indicating when a voice line is finished, ESSENTIAL for any JP (or any foreign language for that matter) voice to know when it's safe to advance to the next line without wasting time waiting. This is mostly a kinetic novel and what little romance is present takes a backseat; this is RIno's and Tsubasa's story with Kanato as a participant (until the After Story). Which is perfectly fine. Another high quality release from Yuzusoft!

Ehh, it was okay. I think the strongest point for Parquet is the quality. The art is crisp, sprites have a lot of different expressions and move mid-dialogue, that type of thing. The story and characters weren't terrible, but not great either. The story was basic. I think my biggest problem with the characters is mostly the main character kind of having no personality. Other characters are a bit better. As for the gameplay itself, just click through it. There's one route, no options, takes about 6-8hrs. Wavy middle thumb.

8/10 More fluff on the main story would be nice but since it made up to it in the After-Story, it was still enjoyable. Felt quite short to me still. PS. You can't end the After-Story like that without making part 2 Yuzusoft!

As for my review, have in mind that this is the first visual novel I played. The entire game doesn't seem to have much of a choice, it's rather just reading, I don't know if all visual novels are like this but yup, the only "choice" ya have is more about the ending of the game. Well, now going to the main story and such, this game is kinda hard to play because it's so *BIZARRE* and I mean it! First of all, all the men in this game are so ugly or boring for no reason at all? The artwork for them is so strange and it doesn't fit well with the rest, ya can notice that more with the main character artwork (why is him so ugly? Like...). WELL, at any rate what makes me even more uncomfortable is that the main character is supposed to be more likely emotionless but he isn't at all? Well I could have got that wrong but he is a "human" I guess. The entire game seems to develop around a technology called IBM and such, but well, that ya should discover playing I guess. But I don't really get the whole thing behind the prologue because the main character doesn't act like a genius nor like a robot, he literally seems "human" (because he acts a little strangey, not robotic, rather just forced).…
