Flawed Tactics

I love the concept of an auto-balancing game with market mechanics ... but the thing is, the dev is also balancing the game via more "traditional" means, with slight changes in wording or mechanics added through patches without patch notes. Maybe they are building towards a "stable" version of the game that will rely fully on the price balancing, but it is frustrating to think a card is currently undervalued, only to realize in game that nobody is playing it because of a stealth nerf. Still recommend yes - it's not expensive and the concept is super cool. EDIT - the dev responded with a perfectly reasonable explanation. Tweaking the game to make it more interesting is always worthwhile, and patch notes will come eventually. Solidifying this as a buy, it's a very unique take on the auto-battler genre and more than worth playing.

This review was originally negative. That will not change. However to explain the problem I’m going to explain my most recent run as of this review. I was screwed. My biggest problem with the game is the market. It is present in all forms of the game regardless of if you are solo. This market tracks the popular creatures and spells with adjustments accordingly. In theory this balances out costs based on usage. In reality it takes the best stuff, most powerful strategies, and coolest ideas then makes them all unviable. This includes the starting creatures. This day I found all of the good stuff overpriced as usual. That was fine for early rounds because filling the board with quantity had a quality all its own. Unfortunately I was progressing through difficulties and spam wasn't really cutting it. My cheap roster included a bunch of things that nobody wanted; that included me. However I had a plan to beat the system. There is a sheep that multiplies every round its on the board. Zero attack; cheap for a reason. Fun game with a very creative market system

Fun. Actively developed. The asynchronous PvP aspect of the game means there's no queue times to wait and you also have as much time as you want to puzzle through.

An interesting take on the autobattler genre. The costs of units and spells changing depending on their usage rates helps ensure you do have to alternate builds and change up your strategies, but things do eventually feel slightly same-y. I've got +/- 4 hours in the demo on top of the displayed playtime as of writing, for reference.
