✦ AI summary

Analogue: A Hate Story is praised by players for its sharp writing, compelling characters like the gossipy and morally complex Mute, and thoughtful exploration of feminist themes that feel organic rather than forced into the narrative. The game's atmospheric presentation and mystery-driven structure stand out as a well-crafted visual novel experience, though players note it deals with deliberately dark and depressing subject matter. Most players who engage with it seem to find it worth experiencing, particularly for those interested in narratively ambitious indie games.

This game is fantastic and amazingly written. *Hyun-ae is adorable and sweet(and did nothing wrong) but *Mute? goddddddd I'm obsessed with her. she's so casually awful and out of pocket, and she gossips constantly, and she bickers with you, and she worships a friendly drunk just because he treated her like a person, and she's so desperate for attention that she'll let anything interesting spill. seriously, don't tell her secrets. i could write a full dissertation on *Mute. I basically did!! included below(beware spoilers) [spoiler]*Mute is so fascinatingggg. something you notice immediately if you play as a woman is that she insults you in really backhanded ways if you assert your independence and push back against her misogynistic and homophobic comments, but she does it in a way where she clearly admires you? like she's happy that you can be independent and fly a ship and be a lesbian and not need a man around, but she's still trying to take you down a notch because she can't help being jealous! when she shows you the lesbian logs she's constantly turning to you for approval, like "see? isn't this disgusting? isn't it awful? couldn't be us" and if you say you're into that(…

A developed modern piece that dives into the issues that not a lot of games touch on

Impressive little project that uses its assets to enhance the "novel" part of the visual novel experience instead of being a glorified picture-book like many VNs. We get appropriate atmosphere, a companion to bounce ideas off, and just a bunch of text to explore while solving a mystery, which is just great. Maybe the most miraculous thing is that it incorporates a feminist theme that isn't completely offensive and shoehorned. Shame that we didn't get more work like this from the dev after Hate Plus.
