About Griftlands

✦ AI summary

Build two decks simultaneously—one for combat and one for negotiation—to fight and talk your way through a broken sci-fi world where every choice has permanent consequences. Play as one of three characters with unique stories, abilities, and moral dilemmas across procedurally varied runs that reward both strategy and adaptation.

Griftlands is a deck-building roguelite where you negotiate, fight, steal or otherwise persuade others to get your way. Every decision is important, be it the jobs you take, the friends you make, or the cards you collect.

✦ AI summary

Griftlands is a deck-building roguelike that impresses players with its unique dual-deck system (negotiation and combat), compelling art style, and strong replayability across multiple character campaigns. Most players praise the careful balancing, significant decision-making, and engaging progression, though some feel the game lacks content depth or wish it had more post-launch development. The consensus suggests it's worth picking up for fans of roguelikes and deck builders, particularly those seeking a fresh take on the genre with narrative depth.

The game has very rich storytelling with plenty of variety, but compared to the story, the gameplay itself can feel terribly tedious. I think this is mainly because progression and character growth depend heavily on buying upgrades, bribing enemies, and so on, while the amount of money you can actually earn is quite limited. Because of that, the game often feels like it has a lot of potential, but doesn't really give you enough resources to properly experience it. This does get better if you spend more time playing and unlock some permanent upgrades. Still, I feel that the gameplay serves more as a means of progressing the storyline than as something enjoyable in its own right. Even after spending a fair amount of time with it, I still barely understand what the hell I'm actually doing during gameplay. Still, it's clear that a lot of effort went into the game, especially the story and overall variety, so I'm giving it a thumbs up.

One of my favorite games. I really wish they would make a sequel or DLC. They never will, but I will always come back to this one.

Uninteresting gameplay and story in which it relies too much on. Im not gonna spend any more time to see if i "get into it" later, cause it probably would be wasted time.
