I've done 3 hours and I just find myself bored. I don't really like the art style either. Each to their own, I guess this ones not for me.
This was a beautiful, tender and empathic game that really gripped and inspired me. It explored friendship, loneliness, isolation, trauma, grief and hope. I recommend it very much if you don't mind reading and playing interactive drama.
Gorgeous graphics. Lovely soundtracks. Both of them work wonderfully to create a cozy atmosphere. And that's about it. This is a visual novel, so it makes sense that it is centered around its story and that's what I start with. And the story... is a big MEH. 1- It kicks off great and hooks you right off the bat, then declines steadily as you progress. I had to force myself to read all the uninteresting dialogues in the second half of the game. Overall, the plot is repetitive and meaningless. You encounter "suspects" that have been put in between the start and the end of the story randomly, who have little to no impact on the plot anyway and serve only to prolong the story. 2- The characters' arcs are nonsense. Their relationship towards each other is counterintuitive. For example, you find your BFF on the first day of meeting them... for real. And when a character has a big realization, they become a completely different person rather than having second thoughts about themselves like a normal human being. 3- Even the ending and the resolving of the mystery happen so suddenly and randomly, feeling horribly unearned. 4- Not to mention all the plot holes, contrivances, dramatic …
Bought this on a whim a while back when it was on sale and decided just recently to play it on a rainy day. A very atmospheric game, even with it's simple art and design. Interesting story without trying too hard. The scenic moments and music are very well done thought sometimes I wish the dialogue and character reactions were a little more polished. There are a few bugs here and there, like one NPC walking in the street and getting stuck on a street light and a character stuck in a conversation loop but otherwise the game is simple and playable. Some typos I noticed as well and the controls can be clunky, which could also use some polishing, something to keep in mind for future games if it hasn't already been worked on. I recommend this game if you're looking for a small escape and like solving mysteries.
Rainswept is one of the most memorable narrative experiences I’ve had in a game. As its description suggests, the influence of "Night in the Woods" is clearly evident, particularly in the city’s architecture and the way you explore a place that feels alive and inhabited. The game is worth playing above all for its soundtrack and story. This studio offers some of the best musical compositions I’ve heard in indie gaming. The soundscape, subtle yet ever-present, enhances the melancholy and deepens your attachment to the characters. On the other hand, don’t expect breathtaking graphics. That’s simply not the point. The minimalist, almost rudimentary appearance of the characters may come as a surprise, but it fades into the background behind the emotional power of the narrative.
Rainswept is a narrative-focused adventure that proves a compelling mystery does not need relentless action or elaborate puzzles to leave a lasting impact. Developed and published by Frostwood Interactive, the game follows Detective Michael Stone as he arrives in the quiet town of Pineview to investigate the apparent murder-suicide of a young couple, Chris and Diane. While the case initially appears straightforward, the truth slowly emerges through conversations, memories, and hidden emotions, transforming what begins as a criminal investigation into an intimate exploration of love, loss, guilt, and healing. The story places human relationships at the forefront, ensuring that every revelation carries emotional significance rather than serving as a simple plot twist. The investigation unfolds at a deliberate pace, encouraging players to immerse themselves in Pineview's peaceful yet melancholic atmosphere. Detective Stone questions local residents, examines crime scenes, and gradually pieces together conflicting accounts surrounding the tragedy. Instead of focusing solely on evidence gathering, the narrative explores how every individual interprets events differently based on person…
