✦ AI summary

Labyrinth Of The Demon King is a survival horror game that successfully delivers an oppressive, dread-filled atmosphere reminiscent of Silent Hill, with solid FPS-style combat and strong sound design that players consistently praise. The main complaint centers on the maze-like level design and confusing navigation, with similar-looking hallways and dead ends frustrating players despite knowing what to do combat-wise.

Very clunky combat, but very good atmosphere. The puzzles are OK, but I had to look one or two up because I was clueless on where to go.

This is a good game, but not a great game. Don't get me wrong, a solid 6.5-7/10 here but let me start by saying I think this game has more pros but carries a couple of heavy cons. You play a foot soldier who survived an ambush leading to your lord dying to this jerk of a Demon King. You're not having it so you turn back and decide to whoop some demon ass to seek vengeance. It carries an interesting storyline with a fun little cast of characters also stuck in this labyrinth. The story idea here is no issue and neither is the PS1 aesthetic. Also to add, the cutscenes really gave off a vibe of Silent Hill 4 and had a good, creepy feel to them. The game has a fun combat system that focuses on melee weapons more than anything. There is a decent parrying system, kicking monsters in the shins, and an enjoyable combo on every weapon. You get to upgrade your weapons and armor, but I honestly didn't see much of a difference upgrading anything. I found a saucy sword and after upgrading it 5 times, every enemy died in the same amount of hits they did before I steroid-ed up my weapon. Same goes for armor by taking the exact same HP away from me on Level 1 to Level 5. It's a tricky start on ge…

Short but good

I am recommending this game, but with a VERY hesitant "Yes". Part of me really enjoyed this, and another part of me hated it. There are things I love about it, but also things I really hate. I'm on the fence about giving it a thumbs up because I think most people who purchase this will not enjoy it. Based on Steam achievements, only about one in four players actually end up beating the game, despite it being less than ten hours long. What I like most is its atmosphere. This game really makes you feel teleported into a haunted, demon-infested hell realm. It is gloomy, disgusting, and downright vile. The graphics, sound design, enemy design, and overall darkness, combined with its low-poly artstyle, create an environment that is sickeningly gross to look at. It's like walking through a real nightmare from start to finish. Since this is a survival horror game, if that's what you're looking for, this is it. I enjoyed the overall vibe, and that drove me to complete it. If not for that, I probably wouldn't have finished it. Some characters were fun to interact with, but they have limited dialogue and little input in the story, which is simple and to-the-point: slay the demon king b…

I just beat the first boss and as of writing I've spent about 5 hours with the game so I feel like I have a good basis to write a "early impression" review off of. Off the bat the game does a good job of being eerie and creepy. There were a couple times where I'd get jumpscared by an enemy attacking me from around a corner or rushing me from behind. The aesthetic and theming of the game are also well done using the zen Buddhist idea of demons and hell and translating them into this misty and unsettling silent hill inspired world. As a horror game it does its job sufficiently well. You go around collecting items to help you solve puzzles and navigate through a demon's castle, a labyrinth as it were. It's very reminscent of classic playstation horror icons like resident evil and silent hill and the ps1 style macabre dungeon crawler genre as a whole. Where I'd begin to give the game a little bit of criticism is in its handling of combat. I feel that enemies are a bit too strong. Now I just got the great dao which is a better weapon than the rusty sword and hammer I'd been using but even then the combat is very much just, stand in place and time your blocks right. Good luck getting …

Labyrinth of the Demon King is a kingsfield-like that's themed in the sengoku era of Japan laid waste by demons. This game took a little bit of learning starting out, but once the gameplay clicked, I had a blast all the way until the end. It's certainly not without it's flaws, though. First, let's talk about the gameplay. While it definitely feels like a dungeon crawler in nearly every aspect, I did find it a little bit weird that defeating enemies seemingly didn't have a point, as I eventually learned that the buffs to your stats come from consumable items you find around the world and not from killing enemies. Most of the enemies in this game are pretty easy to run past too, so for a good amount of this game it was more about the puzzle solving and less about the dungeon crawling. That said, I do find the flow of combat in this game to have sort of a learning curve at first; it feels awkward and weird for the first hour or two, but eventually it ends up clicking. Believe it or not, this is an Unreal game, but I was simply fooled up until I saw my first ragdoll, then I noticed what engine this is running in. I count that as a good thing; this game does not at all look like anyth…
