Alright. [i]Deep Sheol[/i] is done and dusted. In this game, you play as Special Agent Seth Vidius, star of a loose trilogy of games made by this dev, Deep Sheol being the third. Typically, I don't really enjoy boomer shooters, but IDK. Something about the setting and look of the game made me curious, and that curiosity was rewarded with a pretty fun experience. I would say straight away that this is definitely one of the more approachable boomer shooters out there. Shooting is pretty precise and responsive, and it's very easy to fall into the ebb and flow of combat here. Especially once you figure out a couple of meta rules. What an amazing breath of fresh air. This game reminds me exactly of what its trying to replicate: late 90s and early 2000s FPS games. The whole experience start to finish will net you around 3 hours of gameplay, which I think is pretty good for the price. Only complaint I have is that the final boss room hurt my eyes. 10/10

This game is a lot of fun, it really is cool. I love the art style and the maps. The game makes you think about what you have to do and how you are going to go about it. The shooting is right on point, and the difficulty scales are pretty much spot on. Numerous saves for your progress, and some nice weapons, along with their upgrades. For a game that is a budget price it is well worth your time and effort if you like the genre. The game is made with love and big kudos to its developer.

From graphics to gameplay, from resource management to enemy movement, this game is 25 years late. The way it plays and runs does not justify us callingthis a retro-fps, it's just lame to be honest. After playing through the Seth Videus series in a span of two days, through Happy Rock, to Kanaan, and now here in Pythis Gasworks, the dev here takes some serious inspiration from some of the best titles on the market. This turns from a scenic "Dystopika" style "Blade Runner" intro, to a "Fallout New Vegas" 'Lonesome Road' DLC; remembering on picking up the Laser Detonator when I did the hot key D-Pad dupe on console for unlimited nukes-type nostalgia (in this case we have a fusion rifle). Then I started to get a "Beyond Citadel" chill, reminiscing on the 'USG Ishimura' ("Dead Space"), 'Talos 1' ("Prey"), "Event Horizon", 'Citadel Station' ("System Shock"), even 'Outpost 31' ("The Thing") all with its White-Noise eerie glory. Then "Guardians of the Galaxy" hits my arm with the 'Children of the Sun' cult goosebump, with a pint of "Cruelty Squad" and its corpo conspiracies with Neon-Morphic Labs (The Syndicate). A "Golden Light" variety of hunger game, mixed with a "Dread Templar", "HROT" style gunfeel, to even 'Dude' from "Postal" with the way 'Seth Videus' moves so nonchalantly. This was an alright game for the price. Not too long. The combat is fine though I wish some of the enemies did a bit more then rush at you. The audio / music is pretty good but it almost feels like a media player set to random and changes up the ambient music every so often. The story is pretty good but it'd be nice to have a few more notes or log files, even if your own person had a journal just to give a few reminders or his thoughts on the situation. Still i had fun with this!
