The follow-up to the critically acclaimed SIMULACRA, SIMULACRA 2 expands on the found phone horror format with inventive new apps, a more complex narrative, a larger live-action cast, and a deeper look into the darker side of the internet.

He recruits your help in investigating the case, and hands you a crucial piece of evidence; the victim’s phone. ✦ AI summary

SIMULACRA 2 presents an engaging smartphone-mystery format that succeeds in keeping players interested with its story premise, though most reviewers criticize the stiff puzzle design, obtuse mechanics for signaling solutions, poor writing and acting quality despite modest production improvements, and significant bugs that force restarts during replay attempts. Players generally recommend waiting for a sale rather than purchasing at full price, with the experience landing as decent for genre fans but potentially frustrating for those seeking clarity in its multiple endings.

I'm really not a fan of horror games, so I went into this one a little cautiously. There are some jump scares, but honestly, I found them pretty light. I still didn't particularly enjoy them (because, well, I don't like horror), but they definitely weren't traumatizing to me. The story was okay and kept me interested enough to see where it was going, but I did feel like it could have gone deeper. There were some interesting ideas that I wish had been explored more. Overall, it was an okay experience. Not really my genre, but I didn't regret playing it either.

I really really wanted to recommend this game because I was having fun with it. However I got hard locked out after confronting Mina before the other characters. Doing the suggested fixes did not work and I don't have enough time or patience to replay it again.

just got my first ending playing through as the journalist, this was sick! a great followup to the original simulacra, and a very interesting story to work through. lots more to do as i replay as murilo this time, intrigued to see how itll all play out could have used a little more work on the ui for the main menu & settings page - the actual phone looks incredible and then everything beyond that looks super rough ok finished playing through as a detective and got the good ending this time - game is pretty fun, managed to pick up on a few extra puzzles that i had missed the first time around, and i thought it wrapped up in a pretty satisfying way shame that it wants me to replay 2 more times to get the final few achievements, i don't really think doing this all to make 4 slightly different choices is worth it, but it was a good time

Creativity can come from any place, SIMULACRA 2 shows that having a good story and choosing the right mode is essential. I loved solving the puzzles. They were challenging and they no hand holding either.
Not recommended Sep 1, 2026
Deeply disappointing, rigid game design and the expectation of possibly many playthroughs for a chance at the 1 "correct" ending, which is inscrutable. '80s era design philosophy that ruined an otherwise enjoyable experience.
