What Steam players say

Dark Light has an appealing retro sci-fi aesthetic with atmospheric design and a unique invisible monster mechanic that players find creative, though the combat and overall experience are divisive. While some appreciate the satisfying parry system and early challenge, others find the gameplay becomes repetitive and shallow as the player character scales too quickly, making encounters trivial by the mid-game, alongside complaints about janky UI and uninspiring combat mechanics.
pretty fun, don't get why some people hate on this, the art direction kind of reminds me of early 2000s kind of like robokill type of graphics, the combat is simple yet fun, I am near the end of the game, and it has been pretty fun.4 found this helpful
Looks great, but gets boring fast. 5/102 found this helpful
Okay so I literally just started this. I'm not even that far I think. At first I was like oh great another super hard pixel game where I die every 5 seconds, which... yeah, I did. A lot. But once you get the drone thing it gets really cool. Didn't expect the invisible monsters mechanic. I was walking around like why can I hear something breathing and then I turned on my drone light and this massive shadow thing was right in front of me. Actually scared me lol. Combat is still kicking my ass a bit. I'm mostly just spamming dodge and shooting but I'm starting to figure out the parry timing. When you pull it off it feels so satisfying though. Atmosphere is awesome, super dark and creepy but in a cool sci-fi way. You can tell it's an indie game in some places but the art is honestly great. Still getting lost a lot, not really sure where I'm supposed to go half the time but I'm just exploring and it seems to work out. Anyway early verdict is this is way better than I thought it was gonna be. If you're on the fence just try it. Will update when I get further.1 found this helpful
It's not a bad game, per se, I just didn't really enjoy my time with it. I booted it up a few times, and just haven't been able to get myself to boot it back up in over a month. Guess it's time to uninstall.1 found this helpful
Did my first playthrough in 10 hours, I was melee; Early game it felt pretty balanced but the player scales out of control and the enemies simply can't keep up. Active abilities felt cumbersome to use and I often forgot they even existed other than a few. About a quarter of the way through and the only thing I was worried about was a sudden spike pit if I dropped down somewhere. I want to recommend this game but I think it's far too shallow to recommend.
Pros: Pretty game cons: Near useless quest tab, jank, basic bxtch combat, UI, jank will never touch this again. Developer goes straight to the blacklist.
