Development
Our development team is comprised of people who deeply cherish the RPGs of our childhoods.
We began developing Last Dream to be the central element of our decades-running annual RPG Tournament among physics graduates. That is, we started with the sole desire to craft an enduring game that we would personally enjoy.
As Last Dream progressed and over 50 creative individuals became involved, we realized that other people might enjoy our game as well. Now, after investing thousands of collective hours in game development and testing, and after receiving such generous support from the Kickstarter and Steam communities (thank you!!), we present you with Last Dream - the first in a trilogy. Last Dream II is currently in development.

Sorry, but this just is not what I consider a fun Turn-based RPG. It has too many LONG high-stress puzzles where you have to count every step. It has too many puzzles with no clues how to solve them without resorting to the very long official guide. It has high-stress minigames you have to complete in order proceed. It has strict sequencing without good clues or guardrails that prevent a player from getting stuck.2 found this helpful
Will preface in saying, I am a RPG and general video game player of over 36 years, I played thousands, of RPGs, of all types, Simple, massive, open world, tactical, turn based, auto based, idle, real time, flex if theirs a type of RPG, I played it, yes MMORPGs too. Playing thru this on Very Hard, spite that status, I have some leeway into how I build my characters, going thru this playthru as a Knight *main char* White Mage, Hunter and Black Mage, a balanced party, though my god am I glad I got the Hunter cuz that Blue Moa has been, invaluable. Why invaluable? Because the creators of this RPG has flat out shown pure Amateur hour. Enemies that Silence group silence, enemies that do instant death, enemies that, spite its only a 50 percent increase in atk and such power, are still way too OP and can one shot my characters spite, I give them all at least 1-3 defense per level up and 2-3 increases in HP per level up, while still being powerful enough to kill most mob encounters in a single turn, regardless its painful. First off, why are their no Reviving items? Maybe its a super rare item for later game? Maybe a fish might have the ability? Speaking of Fish, why do they he…
My favorite party-based RPG and best game made in RPG Maker - at least in my humble opinion. Being on par with the other greatest party-based RPG, Final Fantasy VI, it may be the most worthy successor in your eyes just as it is in mine.
This is a game from a different era; specifically, the era when making an early Final Fantasy clone in RPG Maker wouldn't automatically get you laughed at online. And honestly it's pretty good. It's probably not going to be anyone's favorite game of all time, but there's a lot to do and the world and NPCs generally respond to story beats and the completion of side content often enough to make it worth revisiting places you've been before. Given how many times I've seen people claim they were going to make an open-world game in RPG Maker and give up two days later, I was a little surprised to exactly how well this game pulled it off. There story itself is merely okay, combat itself is merely okay, the fishing minigame is a little tedious, and the button mashing prompts get tiresome after a while but I think they're all optional.

Last Dream is a retro-inspired role-playing game that fully embraces the spirit of classic console RPGs while adding enough modern design improvements to remain enjoyable for modern audiences. Developed by White Giant RPG Studios, the game clearly draws heavy inspiration from legendary titles of the 8-bit and 16-bit era, combining turn-based combat, world exploration, dungeon crawling, and party customization into a lengthy fantasy adventure filled with secrets and optional content. Rather than trying to reinvent the genre, Last Dream focuses on recreating the feeling of older role-playing games where exploration, strategic combat, and gradual character progression formed the heart of the experience. From the beginning, the game establishes a strong sense of nostalgia through its visual style and structure. Pixel-art towns, overworld maps, hidden caves, ancient ruins, and classic turn-based encounters immediately evoke memories of traditional fantasy RPGs from earlier gaming generations. However, the game succeeds because it understands that nostalgia alone is not enough. Beneath the retro presentation is a surprisingly large and carefully designed adventure packed with meaningful…
