I played Dungeon Siege for the first time in 2026, over the course of the last three weeks. Here are my thoughts, with a TL;DR at the bottom. Dungeon Siege is very old by now, in terms of how rapidly the gaming industry evolves, and it feels a bit primitive but also holds up shockingly well. I used to buy a lot of these older games before I built my current computer as they were probably the only things that would run on the old one, which struggled to make Left 4 Dead 2 work properly, and have finally been trying many of them out this year. Out of maybe 20 titles ranging from the mid 90's to mid 2000's, Dungeon Siege is the first one I finished. So that kinda says everything you need to know right there. To explain, Dungeon Siege is packed with quality of life features that most games of the era and even some modern ones just don't have. One such feature is only taking exactly what you need from health or mana potions, so if you had a small health potion with 200 HP that could be restored but were only missing 78, you'd still have 122 left. It seriously bothers me that this didn't become an industry standard. The leveling pace is excellent, it feels perfect when fighting all …7 found this helpful

played this a long time ago , wanted to get it on steam , unfortunately there's a compatibility issue so the game crashes for windows 10. love the game but it's not playable for me now
I returned to Dungeon Siege after 20 years and finally decided to finish what I started. Playing it again was a nostalgic and thoroughly enjoyable experience. The relatively simple controls, linear progression, and beautifully crafted environments make this an incredibly relaxing game to play. It's the kind of game you can simply sit back and enjoy without having to overthink every decision – a great stress-relief game. Of course, you could wish for more intricate character development and item management, but there's something refreshing about the simplicity. You mainly have to decide how many frontliners and backliners you want in your party. I went with three melee fighters, two ranged characters, two nature magic users/healers, and one combat mage. As for equipment, the management is equally straightforward: bigger numbers generally mean better damage and armor. There are a few minor annoyances. Camera and character controls can feel a little janky, particularly in tight spaces. I also never developed a good sense of how effective the different spells actually were. Neither issue was serious enough to detract much from the overall experience, though. One fina…
Game worked right out the box on Win10, a few error messages do pop up but they do not prevent play.
She Dungeon on my Siege until my spellcasters get left behind.
This might be one of the oddest games I've played. It feels like the odd bastard love child of Diablo II and Icewind Dale I. The combat mechanics and progression contain a blend of what one can expect from ARPGs while also having elements of RTWP that the infinity engine games contained. Other than that it has a few things that make it stand out. Seamless 3D world in 2002 with massive unique environments. Eight man parties. Class-less progression. The game is admittedly a pain to working in 2025 but well worth the effort imo. I expected nothing and I got a well tuned broke-to-broken ARPG experience with a massive party. I'm def interested in checking out some of the total conversion mods that exist in this game.
