I came into the game with high expectations. It's the type of combat and setting I usually like. But it just didn't click with me. The combat is ok and has potential, but it feels forced into the situations. What you end up doing most of the time is walk around spamming the red mist "sense clue" ability, talk, read, repeat. Felt really boring and tedious. The story unfortunately wasn't strong enough to keep me entertained either.

A very good game, worth the $35 in my opinion and worth it 10-fold on sale. The environment and atmosphere are incredible, I highly recommend playing it in Polish with subtitles over playing in English. The characters feel real, you don't really know how they're going to react to your dialogue, and the things you say and do will carry until the end of the game. If you want a specific outcome I would follow a guide, otherwise it is an adventure where you have to live with your choices. The running around following your red line doesn't feel tedious, there's plenty of world building and tidbits of real history to pick up and side quests to explore, the Fisherman murders were probably my favorite secondary storyline in the whole game, felt like Sherlock Holmes. But you will click that button every 10ft and it does feel repetitive. The combat is good, I've only played a handful of turned based games and I liked it, there's definitely some fights you have to try multiple times in Acts 1 and 2, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes obvious without being played out. Terribly optimized game but still worth playing. The biggest design flaw is the slow traversal and the map transitions being tied to one or two spots on the map (carriages) to port from. So much game time is wasted on running around and not doing anything. When you actually get to play the game, it's fun. The combat is like a puzzle with new pieces all the time and it's really engaging until th end. Never defaulted to some tactic, always formulated a strat for that specific fight. Story was the best part, some good dialogue here and there, some choices that were fun. Had a really good time but did use CE for a 2x speedup due to the awfully slow walking around.
