About ADR1FT

✦ AI summary

Survive alone in the wreckage of a destroyed space station with a leaking oxygen suit, piecing together what happened while scavenging resources and fighting to repair your escape pod. A haunting zero-gravity exploration game that captures the isolation and wonder of space in a deeply personal struggle for survival.

ADR1FT is an immersive First Person Experience (FPX) that tells the story of an astronaut in peril. Floating silently amongst the wreckage of a destroyed space station with no memory and a severely damaged EVA suit slowly leaking oxygen, the only survivor struggles to determine the cause of the catastrophic event that took the lives of everyone on board. The player fights to stay alive by exploring the wreckage for precious resources, and overcomes the challenges of an unforgiving environment to repair the damaged EEV and safely return home.

✦ AI summary

ADR1FT is an atmospheric VR exploration game that excels at creating a sense of isolation and immersion in zero-gravity space, with impressive visuals and a compelling story to uncover. However, players consistently criticize the slow, disorienting movement mechanics, repetitive oxygen management, and significant technical issues including poor controller support (particularly with newer VR controllers), performance problems on certain platforms, and unclear navigation that leaves players drifting aimlessly.

you know those dreams where you feel like you are trying to run but you are making no progress or going painfully slow? that's how this game feels

This is basically unplayable with Valve Index controllers at the moment - even remapping doesn't help.

ADR1FT is an atmospheric first-person sci-fi adventure that does a great job of immersing you in the loneliness/isolation of space. The realistic zero-gravity movement, impressive visuals, and oppressive atmosphere make for a memorable experience, especially if you enjoy slower-paced exploration. The gameplay is fairly simple, and constantly having to look for oxygen can become repetitive and even frustrating at times. The zero-gravity movement can also be pretty disorienting, and there were moments where I wasn't really sure where I was supposed to go, just floating aimlessly through space (adrift, if you will). If you're expecting an action-packed survival game, you'll probably be disappointed, but if you're looking for a more soothing and visually impressive journey through the solitude of space, there's plenty to enjoy here. The game is also fairly short, taking around 5–6 hours to finish, although it'll take longer if you're a completionist.

Your in space, and everything's gone wrong. Control is a little disorienting at first- up to a limit, you really do have to watch your momentum all the time, or else you'll crack your own helmet. Thankfully, the environs don't obey Newtonian physics- there's "trails" of debris to follow to the various sights and 'collectibles', as it were. Like any post-disaster 'walking' simulator, the draw is in uncovering the story leading up to the disaster. Just don't forget to top your tanks every chance you get or you might be caught out too far to make it back to an oxygen source in time. Thankfully, the game spawns these all over the 'trails'. The HUD shows your surrounding based on your facing, and the diamond shows your objective and arrows do show where to turn when it's out of sight. It's small and easy to miss, so don't neglect it. Take your time. Just remember, you're not a speed dashing hero- I had a trippy time getting caught in a giant spinning module, pinning me on a panel, basically ensuring no escape, so I reset- no foul. And if you're in doubt, follow the lights, they usually lead somewhere interesting. And if you need a breather, literally and figuratively, the vi…

Thought I'd give it ago on the Steam Frame. While it launched natively the framerate is terrible. The biggest issue however seems to be that it only supports Vive controllers.

Never would have thought Id give this a thumbs down, as I hardly ever give games thumbs down, certainly not ones I so looked forward to and invested quite some time in. Actually this game made me buy a VR headset. Being able to (almost) experience what it is to be floating in outer space was a dream! So lets break it down: - Visuals: 10 out of 10 Especially for a game of that time, some low res textures here and there, but overall very well polished. - Audio: 9 out of 10 The opening/menu song is Claire de Lune by Debussy, fans of Evil Within will recognise it. Sound effects were minimal which I like, voice overs were very good, with the odd actor mumbling - Gameplay 1 out of 10 The game starts with a tutorial, in which you can float around freely. This is the worst tutorial I have ever seen. For such a complex game you'd at least expect to perform each action and having it confirmed in some way. Nope, the AI voice just runs through a list of commands and shows you what buttons to press. You figure it out! And they didn't even include the ability to grab / take items! One of the worst aspect of the gameplay is the control. You are constantly tilting, shifting, floati…
