UnReal World

Not sure what to say other than I play this game about 50% of the time I play video games. Oh, I have some awesome modern and classic titles... but this goodie but oldie still holds my attention much of the time. Play it, learn it, even mod it. Buy a few axes (IRL), learn how to use and sharpen them. Build shelters in the woods with your kids, watch them try to build traps (IRL). Return to the UNREAL World for unparalleled Awesomesauce, like I often do.

This game is a masterpiece. I'll give an antidote. During my. 7th playthrough. I spawned in. Looted a dead body. Traded it For some food equipment, a spear and a round shield. I learned how to cook. I haunted a bear. 5 Elks. And lasted about a week before the Midsummer's point. Then, as I was building my house and starving, . A bear wandered into view. It Slowly wandered away, but I had fought a bear before. I was confident that I could take it down. And it didn't seem to have. A partner or any babies. So I kind of rushed after it. Worrying that I would lose the trail. I forgot to unequip my my Longbow and arrow, assuming that it would just run off and I would shoot it and aggravate it. And make it charge me. Eventually I lost the track, but I was mistaken. The bear approached Me from the side. I did not have my Spear. In my hands (And I was also fatigued), it was in my pack along my round shield. But I was confident I had spent. A good amount of weeks. Layering up my character with fur overclocks and. Armor. It hit me. And then it hit me again. The first hit hurt, but the second was blocked and just as I was about to get out my spear and start taking it down, bam. He got a lucky h…

A rather unique game (there's similar ones, but this still stands out) that really shows the long development time. Though, it's... Well, not 'shallow', but 'simple'. If you loved playing, f.ex., Cataclysm:DDA because it's fun to scavenge a world filled with resources, learning to jury-rig whatever devices you need and rebuilding infrastructure from scratch... This isn't that sorta game. Buy it if you think you'll enjoy carving a niche and settling into it.

This is the ultimate Finland survival game! I've played for approximately 95 hours and in that time I've learned how to survive, but not thrive, in the wilds. It's a tough game, and the user experience isn't very intuitive, but it is still a great balance of fun and challenge. The feeling you'll get from putting up your first wooden structure, taking down a charging bear, and slowly starving to death in the freezing cold will be both heroic and tragic despite the simplistic graphics. Reviewing because it's on a deep discount right now and everyone should give it a go.
