Fate/Samurai Remnant

This game is good but in the end it was a bit of a letdown, I enjoyed the music the story and the characters, I was expecting some really deep ending and character conclusions, and also because Saber has red hair in the cover I was expecting her to transform in the game at some point, which never happened, The fact that you have to replay the game in NG+ just to get other endings, and when I checked them online, none of them fill the character conclusions at the level I was expecting, The game has a lot of charm, and it made me laugh at times and also be amazed at the designs at others, even the side quests are fun, but due to the outdated graphics and abrupt unfulfilling endings this is a 7.5/10.

Out of all the Fate games, this is currently the best in my opinion overall. While the Fate/Extra Series of games are good, they have more shortcomings compared to this game in my opinion. Iori is easily my favorite protagonist in the Fate series. He's not so much a blank slate like Ritsuka or Hakuno are, though I love those protags too, I just think Iori is a better character. I really like to see him progress throughout the game, especially the conclusion of said progression in a certain ending, This game has great music, and I think the artstyle in Samurai remnant is amazing. The character design for the main cast is very diverse. I think the story and characters are great as well. Each master servant pair has good dynamics, and the digressions really help flesh that out. That goes for all the Rogue servants too. I freaking love the dynamics of Zheng and Zhou Yu a lot personally, definitely one of my favorite master servant duo's. It's also refreshing to not have a bunch of fanservice in a fate title for once. There's really almost none in this game. This is the most annoyed a game that I actually enjoy has made me. The combat is so perfect hit or the biggest miss. At least with something like RE:5 I can say "okay the game just has bad combat, cant be too mad at dying" but this DOES have good combat its AMAZING ACTUALLY. But the enemies you face will either stun lock you, or just absolutely ruin any fun you're having. Its hard to explain but if EVRYTHING doesn't go perfect, you just wont have fun for hours. Onto the story. The voice acting is immaculate, the art is wonderful and appealing. But unless you go for the the new game+ ending the story feels super underwhelming. Things just happen without much build up sometimes. For example in the hope ending, cheimon just appears out of nowhere in a open area without anyone seeing him. and then tries to kill Iori. Then SOMEHOW, the two inch space is taken up by shoetsu, a full grown woman who was 50 feet away. Cheimon then just dies by a weak slash and is never mentioned again. Things just happen and you're end up feeling like "okay???" But overall, the games combat is so great btu the enemies don't feel made for it half the time. Saber is the biggest glutton of them all.

I enjoyed this game, especially how the story reacts to the changes that lead into a new game plus (starting in chapter 2). It's got an interesting plot, good references for fans of the franchise, and serves as a good jumping on point for those new to the franchise. There were a couple of times where I got exasperated at how many battles were slotted between two plot points, though it served to make the New Game Plus into a power fantasy when I shredded through them on the next playthrough. I think all of the endings do a good job of fleshing out certain characters, though I find it funny how some of the important plot points just don't come up in most of them. Iori turns out to be a really interesting juxtaposition to Shirou Emiya, especially if you treat the New Game Plus version of him as the "older version" who is running out of idealism. He's an interesting character to dig into, for sure. Combat gets pretty interesting as well. Between Iori's different stances and the Servants you can swap to, there are a lot of options each battle. I’d recommend this game only if you’re a big Fate series fan. [spoiler]The main story is great, and the ending where you choose to save Dorothea from Assassin is okay. However, I don’t like the final fight very much because I don’t like it when Fate’s main boss is a giant monster. The second ending, where Lancer’s Master becomes a demon, is also okay, but somehow worse than the first ending. The third ending, where Iori becomes evil, is just ♥♥♥♥. I also hate that, in the first ending, they don’t show what happens to Lancer and her Master.
