✦ AI summary

The Yawhg is praised by players as a beautifully crafted narrative experience with enchanting art, excellent music, and elegant game design that works wonderfully in social settings and rewards repeated playthroughs to discover hidden story paths. However, some players feel the relatively limited number of events makes it feel short-lived despite the artistic quality, and note frustrations with the loud soundtrack and lack of modding support.

Continues to be one of the most satisfying games to quickly fire up when friends visit, talk them through the story and let them enjoy the narrative. I'm still yet to "solve" some of the storylines, I think this is a beautiful piece of micro-art.

i only have 0.4 hours logged for some reason but i seriously have put dozens of hours in over the past 10 years. i keep going back. e. m. carroll's art is so so enchanting and this was a formative game for how i learned to and developed into telling stories myself. i would dive back in constantly to try to find new paths to follow and knew i'd be having a great time even if i didn't manage to. this is one of the few games i will always have installed because i know at any moment i may have the urge to jump in for another hour or two.

A masterpiece of solid game design around very simple mechanics. Have shown it to game dev students every year as an example. Surprisingly fun to play with groups

There's far better in this genre. It has a shockingly low number of events for a game like this, and they basically made it impossible to mod so there's no way to add more. Add onto this the fact that they basically made it impossible to stream and there's no way to turn down the (admittedly pretty) soundtrack, which was turned up WAY too loud. It all adds up to an experience that is only really fun once, and that's not worth your money.
