Brickochet is an arcade brick-breaking game developed and published by Graham Garven that modernizes one of gaming’s oldest formulas without losing the straightforward appeal that made the genre successful in the first place. Built around paddle control, ball physics, and progressively more demanding level design, the game delivers a focused arcade experience that values skill development and consistency over unnecessary complexity. Rather than reinventing the brick-breaker genre entirely, Brickochet improves upon familiar mechanics with thoughtful additions that keep gameplay engaging while preserving its retro-inspired identity. At its core, Brickochet follows a structure that immediately feels recognizable. Players control a paddle positioned along the bottom of the screen, using it to launch and redirect a bouncing ball toward layers of destructible bricks. Laggy mouse controls completely ruin this breakout-style game. Controls for a breakout game need to be really well done and precise. To be fair, the original versions of Breakout Beyond and Breakout Recharged also had really poorly implemented mouse controls until they changed them based on my reviews. It's just something that, for some reason, goes completely under-thought by the average breakout-game developer. But old arcade machines like Breakout and Arkanoid had PERFECT controls, with zero lag. So to put lag in a breakout game is asking an enthusiast of the genre to go back 40+ years. No thanks, try keeping up with 40-year-old technology, please. Anything other than perfectly responsive controls means that any suitably challenging ball speed will seem cheap as the user constantly watches the game waste precious frames that they need to catch a fast ball across the screen.

brilliant game keeps you alert

Brickochet is a clean, classic-style brick-breaker with solid paddle controls and power-ups. Unfortunately, it suffers from common genre issues: oversized levels, tiny assets, too-frequent negative power-ups (sometimes dropped right where you'd need to hit the ball), and uninspired visuals and music. Many levels are just pixel art with bricks rather than thoughtful designs. While it’s not a bad game, it feels generic and underpolished, especially compared to stronger alternatives like Shatter. Great mechanics buried under mediocre execution.

I used to have this game on my television in 2010. Very enjoyable game and can actually be more difficult than it looks. Some achievements are very hard to get. 9/10
