About The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II

✦ AI summary

Lead protagonist Rean across a war-torn nation of Erebonia, commanding tactical turn-based battles with Divine Knights and a deepened Link System while searching for your scattered classmates. This direct sequel remembers your choices from the first game, expands the world with airship and bike travel, and delivers enhanced English voice acting with new quality-of-life features for PC.

Civil war has broken out across Erebonia. After his narrow escape from Trista, Rean will take up his sword again on a journey with his Divine Knight, Valimar, in search of his friends from Class VII and a way to end the conflict before its price becomes far too dear...

✦ AI summary

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II improves on the first game's pacing somewhat, though players remain divided on the overall quality of this early entry in the franchise. Most praise the character writing and story progression, with standout performances from cast members like Laura and Crow, while complaints center on slow pacing, repetitive Valimar mech battles that lack challenge, and concerns that the game struggles to make players care about events after the first game's foundation.

Cold steel ones pacing it upset me And a cold steel 2 Is a little bit better but not by much Because the first game was all set and not a lot of world altering events happened the first game left a sour taste in my mouth to the point that I didn't care about the game's cast that much. It was very hard for the second game to try to get me to care how about the events that are happening to this cast but by the end I was a little bit motivated to push through but cold steel 1 and cold steel 2 are the Worst part of the franchise by far And I genuinely don't know how people got hooked into the by these two games 5/10

And that wraps up my Nightmare mode run of Trails of Cold Steel II. Just like with the first game, I actually found the rerun way more enjoyable than the initial playthrough. Throughout the whole game, only about three bosses gave me a bit of trouble on Nightmare difficulty, everything else went super smoothly. Now it’s time to move on to Trails of Cold Steel III (Nightmare difficulty). Vote: 9/10

Crow Armbrust has seized ownership of my mind and refuses to let it go.

I have not added any spoiler tags, read at your own risk. Disclaimer: I played this game on normal as I prefer to focus on the story nor did I read a guide about which bonding events have the most lore, etc. Do I recommend it? Yes, but having so far played all previous games, in my opinion, this game dropped a lot in terms of quality. The story is good, I enjoyed it, the characters are nice, the areas in Erebonia are beautiful. But sadly to me there are several problems which made me rate this game a 6.5/10: - The fights you do with Valimar are extremely and I do mean extremely boring. There's very little skill required in these fights. I was quite interested at first at how they would implement these fights, but sadly I did not enjoy them. Luckily there are not that many fights - The main topic is about a massive civil war and the characters speak of this a lot, but you don't really see any of it. Areas that are taken, you only see a few soldats and that's it. The only exception where you feel that there is an actual war going on is the market scene, which was very emotional and well done. - I know the game loves it's character bonding, but holy moly, it felt like a harem some…
