Total Factory First Impressions Info dumps as a tutorial are not a very good way to do tutorials. This game is a bit of a combination of Factorio, Satisfactory, and DSP and does everything worse than those games. I have put 2,300+ hours into Factorio and nearly 1,000 hours in DSP and was looking for something similar that I could spend some time on and this... well, this isn't it. When hovering over objects, specifically inside containers, the tool-tips that pop up can get cut off by the top of the screen forcing you to be more precise with your mouse or lose tool-tip info. I suggest they cage the tool-tip popups within the screen so that they can not be cut off by the top of the screen. When crafting (solid fuel generator, for example) subordinate crafting parts (electric pole, for example) should automatically be crafted when crafting the generator. This is done in many other factory games (Factorio, Dyson Sphere Program for example). It's unnecessarily tedious to have to track down and craft subordinate parts manually. Consider adding a crafting queue. Escape should open a menu instead of just asking if you want to exit to desktop. I don't know why this isn't a thi…

When I heard this referred to as "The new Factorio" I got excited! Upon playing it however, I was reminded of when Justin Bieber claimed to be the new "king of pop." I really wanted to like this game and I gave it a decent shot, but it still feels like an early alpha even though the developer says it is "Not in early access, but still in active development" Controls are frustratingly un-intuitive, even just placing belts is awkward especially if you want to turn a corner, and if its next to another belt then expect a hassle. Tutorial is random and repeats the same "help" messages over and over. I was disappointed to discover power production of all things required the most micromanagement just to stay running, growing bushes is tedious with the constant manual watering required, but trees arent so bad once you get to that level, it is still a non-renewable resource though. Theres too much grinding to manually mine a lot of the resources before it can be automated - I ended up using a rubber band to hold down the mouse button. First impression: The game is called Total Factory but after 3 hours I haven't gotten to the factory part. Instead I had to spend the time traversing long distances to find basic resources and fighting a constant barrage of enemies with a terrible combat system. Again, only 3 hours but already the character is no longer capable of getting thru enemy territory to get the resources to build anything without dying. Maybe some re-balancing would help. I played for another 10 hours. I found some game mechanics that work in the players favor and was actually able to start building a factory. Then just as the game was getting fun, something like 10 enemy spawn points appeared right next to the factory. Enemies easily overran the defenses and now I'm stuck in a death loop. Also came across some bugs including duplicate character and material icon that wouldn't go away. Would have reported them in feedback but the Feedback menu option doesn't work. I did like the progression/upgrade system and the price is reasonable. Other than that, I can't say there's much to recommend this game.

Thank you to the devs and publisher of Total Factory, Total Craft Games, for providing a fun game that made me build, defend and farm. My Steam review rating: Mostly Positive Total Factory sits on a very, very small pile of automation games that proclaims it is fully complete. It's not labeled early access, it has a full achievement list, it all works as intended without basically any performance issues…… And then you get to level 7(of 8) and it all changes as minor issues arise with a confusing rushed ending that all need addressed for a more satisfying play through to the end. Total Factory is a mix of genres that includes automation, tower defense, and farming. At the start of a new game you will begin by making a randomized world and choosing to include or exclude enemies. The world is not an open world but a connected 4x4 grid. As you explore you will come along a shadowed barrier that you simply enter and transfer into the next area. I believe this is done to keep enemies isolated and it is a seamless transition as you will be moving product via conveyor belts/power lines though these zones. literally unplayable, feels like the first project of a freshman student. Not worth even 2€, developer seems to be a scammer asking for 15€.

I'm enjoying the game but don't have enough hours in it yet to provide an informed opinion. I'll edit this review when I do. I can say that if you run a Steam Deck with a dock, keyboard, mouse, and monitor (as I do 99% of the time) Total Factory runs perfectly. The reason I'm posting this "review" is to encourage all members of the Steam community to strongly consider purchasing a copy of this game whether or not you have any interest in playing it. The developer is Ukrainian and while I've contributed over $1,000 to CORE and World Kitchen in support of their humanitarian efforts in Ukraine we also need to support Ukraine's economy. What better way than for the gaming community to support Ukrainian game developers by purchasing their games. I have no ancestral connection to Ukraine. I just know that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was unprovoked and Ukrainians are locked in a life and death struggle for their freedom. Slava Ukraini
