Blaster Master Zero

Fun and unique metroidvania!

The mix of 2D tank platforming and top-down dungeons on foot is a really cool combination of gameplay, it breaks up the game to keep it from getting too repetitive. Music and aesthetics are great, and the story is decent enough that it keeps me interested. Jason really did all this to find a frog he barely even knows. #respect I'm not used to Metroidvanias so traversal is a little slow to me. Keeping the max gun level is easy and kind of trivializes a lot of the dungeons and bosses, it also makes the lower gun levels feel useless. Other than that I have no huge complaints. I can't say much on how it compares to the original on NES since I never played it. Besides that, this game is pretty fun. Good start to a fun series

Great! Lots of the original still in there, but a lot less annoying to play.

I'm halfway through the game and honestly I don't like how there's no "how to play" section for keyboard, just for controllers the keyboard controls are also weird, and the pause menu doesn't let you exit or anything, i had to alt f4 to exit then rebind my keys also bosses are way too easy except that frog that one was annoying as hell compared to the rest which were much easier overall the game is either too easy or too tedius and that's not quite fun I'll update this review once i finish the game update: this game sucks i got softlocked after area 7. also the enemies are horribly tedious and the bosses are so easy it's depressing

Grew up playing the original on the NES, this one fixes some of the jank and adds some good QOL features but ultimately it's a far easier game than the original which makes it less compelling

I like how its similar to the original game. I've been having a great time.
