Great effort making this game but the difficulty is extreme. Even on Explorer you are constantly outnumbered by tougher foes and every fight leaves you feeling you need to double back and rest. Constant scenarios where you speak with an NPC then find yourself in combat and surrounded making formations useless. Really too bad; the world, the lore and the character development is quite nice, but the combat is simply too tough, even at the lowest difficulty setting.

I really wanted to like this game but in the end I just cant. The need or maxed out skills at at every interaction is just delating. every time you need to make a skill check its 40% or less . You have to add two levels over your player level to have a chance (40%) which seems to be 90% not passing. I mean you only get 1 or 2 points a level and you need at least 2 or three skills maxed plus per character to hope you have the right one in your party at skill check time..Then its poison every time , the healer player is useless even against undead, Then you get bosses that hit or 30 damage and paralyze or the entirety o combat and the regen 15 plus and cant be killed with a destruction o another object. Makes the game a hack and slash no thought run through and hope you can get to the object beore everyone is stunned, paralyzed or dead.

I was really enthusiastic to play Archaelund as I have played through the free version of Exiled Kingdoms and liked this developer's work. I decided that I could show my support for their bigger project, which seemed to look amazing and include lots of exploration combined with many interesting character build options. You can see that the developer put soul in this game, however I cannot recommend it yet based on my gaming experience. The worst part is the characters' accuracy mechanic in combat. At times it just feels like playing with a crooked slot machine and it gets frustrating way too often when one of your 'heroes' flails around like Magikarp doing absolutely nothing while the enemies beat him the f up. You have to train the skills carefully, and now you find yourself with not so many possibilities regarding your beloved adventureers. Replenishing the heroes health is tedious. There is no passive health restoration mechanic, which is not mandatory but would help greatly. There are few reliable health restoration methods, and it gets tiring making the way back to a camp after a few fights. Not to count enemies bashing you with status conditions. The menus are at times too cr…

How have I missed this until now? This is fast becoming one of my most enjoyable games. Yeah I'm not far into it (still haven't left the opening area at time of this) but I can not wait to see what it to come. The top down view in combat takes me out of the blobber mindest. I imagine it would have been a lot chepaer to stick to some clever first person attack animations like Might and Magic 8 did. I do love the diversity of classes and races (more playable minotaurs please, very few games have them), but I'm bored on the beach. Grimrock 2 had its snappy starting sequance of both puzzles and combat and while I hated it's real time combat, Archaelund just has no initial momentum. I wish the developers luck, but the game is just too boring and empty at the start for me.

Different spin on the CRPG that feels immersive. Dev seems devoted too.
