Restore, Reflect, Retry

This game is fascinating. Thoughtful. I very much recommend it. I've played it seven or eight hours (ignore the Steam playtime; I play it on the publisher's website) and have gotten most of the achievements. One playthrough isn't long—I haven't kept track, but I've played it more than a dozen times over those seven or eight hours. But if you play it at all, you must play it more than once; it's very much designed to be played repeatedly. If you get frustrated trying to get a certain outcome, remember to play to your character's strengths. Earlier choices most defintely influence later results, not just—like in some games—a couple lines after a choice. The game categorizes itself as horror, and perhaps it is, but it's not frightening, so if you don't like scary things, don't let that stop you from picking it up. And that's all I can say without spoilers, I think. I strongly suggest you avoid them before playing.

A very interesting little game. It's one of the most creative COG games I've played so far in terms of the mechanics it used. For example, two achievements relly on the player [spoiler]changing the game settings[/spoiler] and another on [spoiler]looking at the game code[/spoiler]. This may not seem like too much of a big deal, but it was really suprising for this genre of games and really worked well with the theme of the story. The story was also compelling, and all in all, that's what's most important. It was neat to see the game "remember" that we'd been in that situation before. Definatetly recommend this, though with the caveat that it's a short experience.

Strange little game that requires many playthroughs, once is not enough. However this is not an enthusiastic yes, its more a maybe. Its a coming of age story, perhaps, with all the angst of suddenly leaving behind those careless years as a young teen and taking responsibility. It touches on mental health, there are a few gory scenes, but nothing as bad as playing most RPGs or shooters, and its reflective insofar as you think about your life. I'm not sure if I can recommend it or if its good or bad, so its got a yes, because its not bad enough for a don't recommend. Definitely odd! For some reason Steam has not recorded my time played accurately. Its at least an hour for a single run-through.

I quit after finishing two playthroughs because I wasn't invested enough and halfway through I started reading diagonally, which is a bad sign. But it's definitely not a bad game, it's just not my thing. So if the premise seem interesting to you I would recommend checking it out.
