Edit: Well. I had a developer respond to my review, which is a first. Based on that single note, and the fact that the update addressed exactly what my concerns revolved around I am changing from "Not reccomended" to "Reccomended." The Godking difficulty is indeed far more interesting for players with experience in this genere and does, in fact, bridge the gap in difficulty that now adds enough of a challenge to actually delve into the faction mechanics. After some research on my part, this is a single person working on this game and it should be award the corresponding leeway and understanding that comes with creating something from the ground up yourself; I certainly could not do this, so props to you dev. Original Review: [strike] The game has a prestiege mechanic for campaigns, where if you beat a campaign with one faction then you unlock the next prestiege difficulty. There are 8 (?) levels of prestiege to the campaign, I managed to get to level 5 in under two hours with only a single run lost at the final battle. This is not worth it, and if I could still get a refund I would.[/strike]

This is absolutely the gold standard for how to make an engaging campaign where you care about utilizing every unit effectively and the battle difficulty stays in the sweet spot the entire time. Really an exceptional effort. I find these campaigns 1000% more fun than Total War since I finally have a reason to play out every battle rather than build doomstacks and then auto-resolve everything. I have played 10+ campaigns and ran into zero game-breaking bugs. That is not to say this is flawless. Sieges are rather boring, and I find many of the signature units are decidedly mediocre for some reason. This game would benefit a bit from better graphics/UI and significantly from tying in world-building/flavor from an existing IP (I would sell my soul to see this ported over into a Crusade system with 40k units and campaign narratives, but I think tying the next version to Conquest: the Last Argument of Kings might be more realistic and mutually advantageous option). Overall, this is a no-brainer buy at $20; even at $60, I would still feel I had easily gotten my money's worth.

I really enjoy this game and its only getting better. I've had a lot fun mainly using the auto battle feature and then when I saw on max difficulty I had to actually learn how to win a battle myself, I like it even more! I enjoy everything down to the sound the d20 makes in the mini games. It's very satisfying. A few thoughts to maybe help shape the game: 1) It would be cool to have the option to watch the auto battle play out if I wanted(like Age of Wonder). 2) I'm fine with the prestige system but it does seem like the units should get some sort of advancement along the way even if its a separate bonus. 3) Unique hero's that can be attached to units! Just my two cents, love what your doing and how you are a developer FOR the people! Also, maybe skin packs or something as a way for us to continue to support your work, I could also gift the game to a friend. Thanks!
