Maid of Salvation

The game is rather nice after a few patches to smooth out the rough edges. It has plenty of well thought out boss fights and gives player's control over the pacing of the game. Another great entry from Orange Popcorn. I'm just hoping it doesn't mean the HunterX trilogy is discontinued.

Finished three full 100% playthroughs of this game in order to get 100% of the achievements. The game is phenomenal, even with some minor quirks that could be tweaked. I understand it isn't a huge game developer making it so that wasn't anything that put me off from continuing to play over and over. One issue I thought could be really useful for the team in a future release, sequel or other IP they develop. After obtaining the skills or skill special attack abilities, they stay across playthroughs (this of course is something one would expect in an NG-NG+ etc. game progression system), my only gripe about this was some the special "story" progression based secret arts not carrying across playthroughs. I understand the purpose behind this, but it shouldn't be a thing, especially if you are heavily investing into the chain abilities and then have to regather your primary secret art midway through other journeys (luckily you get the final version of this in NG++...). Another issue is that even after one playthrough, many of the cutscenes cannot be skipped, or cancelled only a few can, this would be useful for those that have gone through multiple runs, or are trying to speed run the …

If you enjoyed 3000th Duel and the two HunterX games, you'll enjoy this one. This is probably the simplest out of all of the games, but it still presents a fun challenge at times. The newest mechanic is the gun which felt fine. It was fun, but I didn't find myself using it a whole lot. On top of that, the lock-on system was atrocious and useless, so it sucked that there were skill points wasted on that feature. Instead of being a side-scroller, this time the devs opted into making this a top down view game. It was fine but I found that the platforming was redundant and didn't make the environment interesting like the last two games. I also found the maps to be quite small with little variety so certain levels got bland a little too quickly. The last two complaints I have are for the abilities and enemy models. It seems like the abilities are copy/pasted from the other games but this time it's a bit awkward that some areas are locked out until you earn two specific "Special Arts". Good game

A "Soulvania" game featuring adorable maids. It features a streamlined and clean integration of Soulslike systems and general Action RPG elements. However, "simple" doesn't mean "shallow"—the combat, exploration, and collection are all designed with surprising depth. While it requires some mechanical skill, it is highly recommended overall.
