Idols of Ash

went into this thinking it was a simple descending game with cool hook mechanics, heard something crawling behind me and got scared ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ by it. recommend.

Conceptually interesting game, but it quickly becomes very weak once you realize the amount of content is equivalent to an unfinished project or a demo, with the addition of a price tag slapped on it. The campaign, or a single linear map in the entire game, is mostly empty space with rock ledges and pillars scattered around. There are occasional lit spots and glowing shrubbery, but they're only progression indicators. Given the overall simple design, it makes sense, but it doesn't help with the gameplay itself. All the grappling action is reduced to throwing your hook onto a horizontal platform and that's basically it. From there, you drop down to a lower ledge or swing elsewhere. There are barely any slants or tricky spots, and for that, it also makes grappling obsolete for the most part, because the character can just jump from ledge to ledge from great heights with their (no evidence) bionic legs. So, for the most part, you're leaping down from places and it is supported further with health bulbs scattered around the place. The story didn't offer much besides some holographic visuals tied to various checkpoints relating to "her" and inner monologues for extra context. Given it…

A simple game with a simple mechanic which is very well made and a great little experience.

9/10 the centipede is terrifying

A fun game and challenging as well. I hope to see more levels added that would be amazing.
