Nova Roma

I tried a playthrough, but I really wasn't impressed. Background: I've played several games in this genre and other than it being a Roman-style game, it lacks the depth I'm seeking.

No guidance at all, no clue as to how the game pursues. No way to ward off enemy, nothing in the tree that suggests you should. Suddenly forces show up and there is nothing you can do to prepare. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. Will delete.

It definitely tickles that funny bone where you have always wondered about the Roman Empire. This game allows you to relive that fantasy. The city building is good, and you do have to put a lot of thought into it. Well done.

A worthy successor to Kingdoms and Castles. The dam/aqueduct system is fun, and probably a whole lot more as I continue to play.

great game. If you had at any point kingdoms and castles on your wishlist and are a bit autistic about the roman empire or rome this is the game for you

---== Early Access - UPDATE 14 Review ==--- I grew up with the likes of the Caesar, Pharaoh, and Zeus games so historical themed city builders are most definitely a nostalgia hit for me. That's what I hoped Nova Roma would be. To get this clear - Nova Roma is significantly less complex than those old Sierra games. Currently, Nova Roma is an enjoyable enough game. There's a good level of complexity and gameplay here. What is massively lacking here though is data visualisation. So if that's important to you, this isn't a game to purchase. This really is the big drawback to this game. The lack of data and information is significant for those used to being able to see information presented in different ways to help plan out their cities. Working out ratios then of housing to bakeries to wheat farms is something that's going to have to be done the old fashioned way. That can feel very tedious at early stages. Though one might suggest it's part of the challenge. It's definitely an area I hope the developers revisit as they progress through to the completion of this game. There's a bigger issue for me over the seemingly silly way that bridges cannot cross tiles zoned as 'ocean'. It is …
