A uniquely styled sim game in which you are new member of a record store, recommending music records to patrons. The requests are obscure and it is up to you to figure out what each person wants. Personally for me the game was more about the story, dialogue exchanges and the dynamic of the staff members. The story has grit and is inspiring. Expect social commentary, an unwavering community and absolute baddies! It shows that the game was made with love to spread love. Rad artstyle!

Wax Heads takes the familiar idea of working in a record store and turns it into a charming narrative adventure built around music, conversation, discovery, and the strange personalities that gather around an independent shop. Developed by Patattie Games and published by Curve Games, it places you inside Repeater Records, a struggling record store where selling albums is only part of the job. Instead of focusing heavily on financial spreadsheets and traditional shop management, the experience is interested in understanding customers, discovering fictional musicians, solving small problems, and becoming part of a community held together by its obsession with music. Much of the gameplay revolves around helping customers find records that match what they actually want. That is not always as simple as being given an artist or genre. Customers may describe their mood, preferences, memories, or circumstances, leaving you to interpret those clues and recommend something appropriate. This gives ordinary customer service an enjoyable puzzle element. very cute short game with a loveable cast of characters and a really cool plot :)

It was fine. I mainly used the French dub to practice. I was expecting it to be more like Tiny Bookshop, where you recommend (real) books to townies. Here, the records are fictional, though the musicians and the dynamics (social media, events) mirror real-life figures. It's dialogue and exposition-heavy, and the storyline is cute if a bit too on the sweet side for my taste.

Never worked in a record store but have friends who did. Took me back to the days I'd hangout with my friend while they were working.

Wonderful indie puzzle game from a small team. Alot of love and heart went into this, it's obvious the whole way through. The themes of community and the importance of third spaces really resonated with me. The music is solid. Nice hand drawn art. It's not perfect, but it's exactly what i like to see from a small indie.
