Return to Monkey Island

The art style took a second to get used to, and some of the achievements are just time-wasters, but the puzzles are fair and humorous, and the story is light and fun. I especially enjoyed the interactions with Elaine.

I think just in terms of gameplay this is the best Monkey Island game. Most of the puzzles felt fair and there was a lot more variation in different types of puzzles than in any previous games. I think the artstyle is really good aside from how certain characters look (Guybrush is one of those characters unfortunately...) The story is cool and interesting with all the new and returning characters working with each other / against each other in classic pirate betrayal fashion, and the voicework for all the characters is really great as always. I know some people don't like the ending but I thought it was appropriate and honestly I couldn't see it ending any other way; If you read the dev note at the end it will also make more sense. The soundtrack is overall not as consistently good as Monkey Islands 1-3 but the songs that are good are REALLY good; For example I really like all the LeShip songs and Scurvy Island. Most songs also have a bunch of different versions too that change in different areas and it's really well done (though, none are as cool as MI2's dynamic soundtrack for Woodtick - Unfortunately, they said making that was too hard and they're never doing something like…

[h1]Return to Monkey Island — 10/10[/h1] Monkey Island is one of the reasons I fell in love with point & click adventures in the first place, so playing [b]Return to Monkey Island felt a bit like meeting an old friend again after many years[/b]. Guybrush, Elaine, LeChuck, Melee Island — within minutes I was back in that world I remembered from the 90s. The writing and humor are still unmistakably Monkey Island, the puzzles are clever without becoming frustrating, and there are so many little references and callbacks for long-time fans. I wasn't completely sold on the new art style when I first saw it, but while playing the game it grew on me very quickly. [b]What I loved:[/b] • Classic Monkey Island humor • Guybrush is still Guybrush • Clever and enjoyable puzzles • Wonderful soundtrack and atmosphere • Lots of nostalgia and references for old fans • Modern enough to be comfortable without losing its adventure-game roots And most importantly: [b]it actually feels like Monkey Island.[/b] As someone who played these games back in the 90s, I couldn't have asked for much more. The game was relaxing and fun , the hint book was a good item in the game and the puzzles weren't too hard. 4/5 for sure!

I PERSONALLY as a fan whos played every MI -liked it- I liked the new art style - I liked the twist even if it felt underwhelming to some IT MAKES SENSE if you played Mi1 and 2 - Curse is good I know that makes me a pariah for liking SOMI 3... dont care I reviewed it for real but IMHO this is the 3 best one. I dont want to go into details I beat this forever ago but forgot to post a positive so I am doing so... because I think if your playing this you ALREADY are a fan so try to understand what the developers were doing here... I cant understand anyone that hates this if they play it through to the ending. There is just something great about hearing Guybrush's voice actor again in this game...feels very nostalgic and brings me mirth... I love this character so much. If anyone wants to argue with me about this game I will gladly insult swordfight you on your terrible opinion.
