About Splatter - Zombiecalypse Now
Splatter is a top-down shooter where you battle hordes of light-fearing monsters across a full film-noir campaign, wielding an upgradeable arsenal with physics-based splatter effects in destructible environments. Strategically wield your flashlight to expose enemy weaknesses, tackle side quests and bosses solo, or team up with up to 4 friends in local co-op and arcade survival modes.
Meet interesting characters, accomplish dozens of side quests, engage boss fights and upgrade your weapons.
The zombies fear light, so use your flashlight strategically to create breathing space in battles and to expose hidden weaknesses of your enemies. Explore the surroundings to find new weapons, resources and secret areas. Spend the money you collect to upgrade your guns and unlock new weapon features and discover the best tactics against the variety of monsters.
The story mode spans 16 levels with fully voiced NPCs and dialogs and animated cutscenes.
Try to beat the Highscores in the Survival Mode or gather up to 4 friends in front of your computer to co-op against the horde.

Splatter - Zombiecalypse Now is a competent top-down shooter held back by dated gameplay mechanics, minimal enemy and weapon variety, and a thin story that fails to engage players beyond the first 20 minutes. While the level art is reasonably polished and some players enjoy the straightforward action, most reviewers find it overshadowed by superior alternatives in the genre, and note technical issues on Linux and Mac platforms. Players suggest waiting for a deep discount if interested at all, though many feel the game is not worth purchasing even then.
There's nothing particularly wrong with the game and it does show up with deep discounts, but it's just not very interesting. The gameplay feels like a basic formula from 20+ years ago. The story is just some loose monologues between levels. The level art is more polished than average, but it's it's not enough to recommend. I think there has been just so much development in the top-down shooter space that this doesn't pass the entry barrier any more. You get a full idea of everything the game has to offer after 20 minutes.2 found this helpful

ONLY WINDOWS VERSION WORKS. the first boss on maniac difficulty REQUIRES 4 level or a golden pistol. why the ♥♥♥♥ it doesnt say that it just needs fully upgraded weapons to just COMPLETE the FIRST boss in this game? i swear if you have nerfed xis jumps on maniac difficulty or made flares agaisnt xim actually useful,i wouldnt ve bothered to write a negative review. thats just strange,literally forcing me to exploit or something with the currencry by completing first level over and over by starting story over and over,till i get enough money to get a full upgrade.
Meh, but not too bad.
Played only 1 hour. - It doesn't look like much thought went into the design of the levels. - Enemy variety is low. - Weapon variety is low (pistol, shotgun, and SMG had practically the same effect.) - Story is cheap. - You can destroy a lot of the environment (for some $). Was fun for 5 minutes. That’s when I found myself wishing for those 2–3 treasure chests per level back. - Boring minigames, like throwing torches at maggots to clear a path. I wouldn't recommend the game even for free. It is very cheap on sale. But for almost the same price, you can get plenty of top-down shooters that are miles better in almost every respect (even though some of them received much lower ratings). Examples: Alien Breed Trilogy. Shadowgrounds & Shadowgrounds survivor. Alien Shooter & Zombie Shooter (don't know if these still work on win 11).
bought and played this game to buy its steam background profile lmao. this game is bonkers anyway.
I had a lot of fun playing this game. The controls work great. Lots of action. Some side quests. The story is corny pulp stuff, but that is ok with me.
