Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive

The game features no achievements (Never did on any platform)... ... so I'm free to judge it only on performance and ...oh boy... Crashes once every 1-2 hours for me. Usually when it's been 10 minutes since the last save :)) The controls are iffy at best, Whenever throwing stuff (cards, stun gas potions etc...) You have half of a chance at most of it working (less if you're aiming on a higher level or inside a house). Enemies can see you through the floor if they're on the level above... that's annoying. The Ai either reacts to you approaching in stealth from the back or not... a dice roll every time. Your characters are either in range of an explosion or not.. no indicators but horrible consequences. Some idiot decided to sort the saved games in chronological order, So after mission 10 you have to scroll down through dozens of saved games to get to your current saves... Idiotic design and no testing. An enemy can fully see you through a wall, but you can't throw a kife or shoot... is there line of sight or NOT? I indeed put myself as best as I could in 2001 mode for this review, but ultimately I cannot recommend. Even if you take into account that this game is from 2001, with all the difficulties that come with it, there are many flaws that make it impossible to have a new experience today: 1. The game's pacing at the beginning is atrocious: 1 tutorial -> mission to get new member -> Tutorial -> mission to get new member -> Tutorial -> until finally you have all of them. 2. You can't sequence anything, any new command overrides the previous, and the game revolves around quick command to not die over and over. You will make a new command before ending the last making all the preparation worthless, I guarantee you. 3. The mechanics revolve around very wonky animations and quick commands, but animation is king. If the animation is not 100% done, you will cancel the result, but since they are very wonky it is very difficult to know exactly when you can fast command anything else. 4. Stealth is buggy to say the least, (Example)you have a character that cannot be found by noise, the game itself tells you this... until it is, multiple enemies will find this characters coming from behind for no r…

this game is not the best 1. its a stealth based game but the stealth is very wonky, one reason is that sometimes the npcs can just see you through walls or just know where you are for absolutely no reason. 2. the combat is super iffy with the weapons doing a random amount of damage each time, no matter the weapon. 3. reload heavy, this game basically begs you to save and reload a million times to try and get through a level and overall its not the most fun. Ultimately i would suggest thinking carefully on buying this game, just be sure to know what you want out of it. and buy it on sale for when its like 1 dollar.

So fun, highly recommend :)

Played this when I was a kid, it was challenging but fun to figure out the best strategy's to beat these levels. Replayed it when I was older, still a great strategy game to play, if you like to challenge yourself even more, try to beat all levels without killing anyone. Makes the game even better in my opinion!
