About Manor Lords

✦ AI summary

Build a medieval kingdom from a single village into a sprawling realm by managing complex production chains, seasonal resources, and territorial expansion across a historically authentic 14th-century landscape. Stand out with gridless city-building that respects real medieval town growth, meaningful environmental consequences, and tactical real-time battles where every soldier lost is a genuine sacrifice from your own community.

Manor Lords is a medieval strategy game featuring in-depth city building, large-scale tactical battles, and complex economic and social simulations. Rule your lands as a medieval lord – the seasons pass, the weather changes, and cities rise and fall.

feels like the devs just sleep on this game :( you have to get mods to do the things you want to do like increasing the base militia cap from 6 or find a good map for accessible farming

Game has a steep learning curve (which I personally enjoy), and deeply rewarding mechanics. Wonderful atmosphere, tasteful art style, great music, and beautiful maps to stare at - try first person walkabout! Combat is fun and getting a handle on how to effectively levy an army before getting attacked is a good challenge. The military aspect of this game is not something that can be ignored if you want to progress past early game. Inter-region trade leaves a lot to be desired, and is a bear to get setup and running. The payoff doesn't feel worth the insane effort to get it working, as you cannot just send resources from one region to another. There has to be parity in every trade, making the shipment of advanced resources needed to bootstrap another, specialized settlement extraordinarily tedious. I love sim games in the era, and the work and polish in this title is evident. Followed since the beginning, watched all the engine rework, and now watching the content flow. Worth the price. Not a casual sim.

very addictive cant wait to see this in full build

Still pretty new to the game compared to others, so I cannot speak on the more complex things it has to offer, but the fact the game gets that in depth and it is still in development is really cool. I feel with a few more updates implementing their ideas alongside fixes to very very minor things, this game will be what city building games strive to be. I love that it follows the same models those games do while also going way more in depth on trade and the well being of citizens, especially as you level up the town. I also love how the formations of armies really effects combat effectiveness. Lil things like that really make me keep wanting to play this more and more.

The enemy was able to claim my city I had spent 7 hours on. Many tips don't make sense and you have to work it out yourself. I've played 1000's of hours of grand strategy games, and this leaves a lot to be desired.
