An absolute classic of worldbuilding and atmosphere. The art design and the artistic visions are mindblowing, while typical 'adventure game nonsense' like moon logic puzzles or pixel hunt are pretty much nonexistent.
For a game from 2002, I wasn't expecting this to run smoothly without issues, but it did. It felt nostalgic playing this game, reminding me of games that I never finished as a kid. The steampunk setting got me instantly hooked even if there are little things in the gameplay that seem obsolete today. but I won't get in to that. It was an interesting game and I look forward to continuing the series as this game ended on a note that made me desire more. Every end, is a new beginning, as they say. For Kate, that's what I felt was unfolding throughout this game. Can I please have my own atomaton that cleans the house for me?
I've played many Point & Click games in the past, but the atmosphere of Syberia just drew me in from the first five minutes. The game itself doesn't revolutionize the genre nor is the story, voice acting, or graphics anywhere near the likes of Broken Sword or Monkey Island, but the world and atmosphere are so whimsical that it reminds me of a 90s Disney movie or maybe something like Anastasia. Looking forward to the sequel, which seems to pick up directly from this.
