Art of Murder - Hunt for the Puppeteer

Well, somehow that part didn't quite convince me; it was rather mediocre, and the sound just cut out every now and then... I can just barely recommend it.

Oh Art of Murder, you have disappointed me so. Even my immense love for Nicole (she makes me laugh, okay?) could not save this game. While an improvement from the first game in some ways - better animation, the voice acting gets an upgrade (though it's still hilarious and stiff as the genre dictates), and some of the controls are better - overall it's just simply not good. The solutions to puzzles are insane, even for the genre, and Nicole, my love, just does not help you at all. She'll just say that it's not right while you wander around trying to figure out what the hell she is specifically asking for even though you know what needs done next it's just a matter of what nonsensical solution Nicole wants. While I personally had fun playing this game, I can't recommend a game that I had to have a walkthrough for what feels like half my playtime because I, frankly, just got tired of walking through the same 5 screens only to find out [spoiler]I have to build an elaborate, improbable, and unhelpful explosion distraction to lock a man in an elevator.[/spoiler] That's not the first solution that got to me, but it is the one that stuck with me as just "....what?" Game wont launch. freezes up when I try to open. It changes my graphics to very updated settings and my 3070 will just lock it out.

Disappointing series. Supposed to be about crime and the FBI but just a set of random inane puzzles glued together.

The Art of Murder: Hunt for the Puppeteer is not yet old enough to vote, but it does behave like a clueless teenager. I like adventure games, but I like ones that don't feel stupid. Here you play an FBI agent on loan to the Paris police because a recent killing is similar to a series of murders back in the states. Insultingly, the French are portrayed as relatively fat and lazy, as they do not do a thorough investigation and refuse to work on the weekend. That said, they have nothing on your character, who didn't bring any sort of crime scene investigation kit nor an electrical adapter. This is where Art of Murder: Hunt for the Puppeteer veers into Gabriel Night 3 territory, as the programmers insist that your character make some things harder than they have any right to be. Can't plug your device into the electrical socket? Any sane person would ask their hotel reception for an adapter or, if that failed, go buy one; though, to the game's credit, it does throw some flimsy excuses at you. To overcome the problem, you jury-rig a bypass through a lamp after taking out its light bulb and discovering that its the same voltage as the antenna you're trying to plug in. These sorts of …
