Diggy diggy hole. Quick, devs back, post nude dwarfs 1.5Gb patch just hit, adding some things that felt missing or otherwise were unpolished. With promises for expanded game modes yet to come. Great little dwarf-colony-dungeon crawler.

Stay away from this game. The last major update brought in bugs that are very annoying and make the game unplayable. Examples: Camera has tendency to freeze at the beginning of the game and you cannot move it, unless you restart the game. Your engineers will stop working, instead they choose a random spot and go back there all the time, doing nothing for the rest of the game, unless you give them buildings to build. Soldiers will refuse to go to the tavern for healing, even though you have more than enough food. The ground in some caves is replaced with a black "void" and your units cannot go through it. Miners won't mine rock walls behind it, engineers will not fix the ground, and restaring the game does not make it disappear. All this happened last November with a big update. A smaller update in December was supposed to fix this, but nothing happened; it is still broken. And there was no update ever since. Devs just seem to not care, and the player count reflects it. This game was really awesome, but it was ruined by the devs and it's a pity, because it was a solid playable game and I enjoyed it very much.

Still a work in progress it has slowly evolved into something that reminds me of the early days of dungeon crawlers combined with more sophisticated gameplay like trading and researching. It could use a good manual or some tutorial help but in all I've found it fun and challenging on the higher levels.

I honestly don't see how people can hate the game in it's current state. I've played (and lost) a few games, getting down to the -1st floor and clearing it once (Not a very big achievement on normal difficulty, believe me.) And so far? i absolutely love what i see. Good foundations for what could be a great game. I would also enjoy it if there was a peaceful mode, where you can just mine and build to your hearts content, but i understand that that probably isn't a big focus at the time of writing this. This is also my first ever real review for a game. That's just how much i enjoyed it. All in all, great game, fully worth the $20, and even better if it's on sale.
