Bullets Squared

"Bullets Squared" is a very poor quality, lazily assembled "rhythm shooter". You're presented with uniquely challenging levels, an endless mode, and three difficulty options, but the most difficult thing that could face any gamer is wanting to play shovelware like this... seriously beneath the level of quality we got from 1990's Adobe Flash games. What do you do in the game? Press a button to "shoot" in one of four cardinal directions in a soul destroyingly lame "QTE" tech demo. Junior high school kids have turned in better games as homework assignments. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it's possible. Yes, obviously it's possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that's less than a little blip on the radar isn't offering anything truly valuable to gamers. The graphics here are particularly awful, so bad that it actually stands out as one of the worst looking games on Steam. Quite an accomplishment. It's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. …

Firstly, this is less of a traditional rhythm game and more of a game has rhythmic music, you just don't have to follow it as part of a core gameplay mechanic. Furthermore, the difficulty spike after the first level seems insane! You can kind of brute force the easy difficulty by gunning for as many squares as possible, even at the expense of hitting the wall, I passed a lot of the levels by simply spamming in the direction that had the most squares but to get any real score going seems impossible without godly reflexes, unless I'm missing something. This is especially true if you're more prone to carpal tunnel syndrome or repetitive strain injury (like I am). In my experience, the game was an ok time waster for a couple of hours but that's about it. So if you're considering any real time investment, I wouldn't recommend this.
