Child of Light

[b]5.0/10[/b]. After finishing my time with [i]Child of Light[/i], I found myself feeling more than a little disappointed. Yes, the watercolor artwork and orchestral score were gorgeous all the way through, but the longer the runtime went on, the more unsatisfying the experience became. The use of rhyme in the dialogue and narration initially seemed like a clever and unique quality, but the lack of meter or scheme became grating, failing to justify the awkwardly written and increasingly annoying to read text. The combat's ATB system seemed like a fun, strategic interplay of speed and turn order at first, but it eventually shook out to become a frustrating multitasking assignment as enemies got faster and more abundant. And the initial promise of a fun puzzle-platforming/RPG mashup wound up mostly dropping both puzzles and platforming after the first chapter concluded. I'd like to think that playing this in multiplayer would have been more fun. Sadly, I can't ignore the fact that the player two experience would be pretty banal for most people. Ugh. I used to like this game, once, but between Ubisoft going to ♥♥♥♥ and the game becoming unplayable due to software incompatibilities, I'm going to give it a hard no.

why do I have to sign an EULA for an offline game I bought?

Child of Light is a perfect game to me. The art is beautiful and it is rightfully a cult classic. This game was made with so much love it's easy for anyone to see.

[b]Story:[/b] Simple, but nice fairytale-ish story. Don't await complicated stuff, most of the story is pretty straightforward. [b]Graphics:[/b] Graphic style in this game is pretty neat. Colorful, illustrated like it is torn from some book, or graphic novel. [b]Combat:[/b] Combat is turn-based with some kind of ATB gauge(timer) which shows you when it is your turn and then you can pick your action. It reminds me the combat in Final Fantasy 7, but with a difference that the combat is paused when you are picking the action so you can think it through. Party members have different specializations so you can choose the right members for each battle. [b]Music:[/b] The soundtrack in this game is amazing. For me, this is the 2nd best soundtrack from the game (1st place will be probably forever occupied by Rayman 1). I am not a big fan of giving a number/star/percentage score to a game, so I stick with my personal opinion - This game has simple and nice story, amazing graphic style and music, easy to learn combat system.
