As a sequel to the mobile game version, this game was pretty meh. The cartoonish visuals, and comical text effects like "Boom" and "Pow" is very suitable for the action and humour the game has. It's simplistic 2D art makes it straightforward and clear on which walls and platforms we can interact with, and when the enemies spawn. Although occasionally I'll see some small bugs like half an object spawned, some black specks on the map as well as that level where 'invisible' objects appeared on the pterodactyl flying level. My time playing was also meh. The difficulty scaling is consistent, and the double jumps and wall jumps are smooth and fluid. I didn't encounter any lag nor FPS drops throughout the levels. You have coins and crystals to collect for achievement hunting purposes, and Crystals unlocks more skins for Commander cool. You can play as Bender from Futurama if you wanted to. My biggest annoyance is the constant recoil when we shoot. This makes standing on a tiny platform extremely difficult when trying to kill enemies within the proximity. The audio and BGM exists, but the latter just isn't the same as the music shown in the trailer. Instead, it sound generic, dull, and do…

Commander Cool 2 has some charming features, such as the artwork, music, and some of the enemies. Unfortunately, that's about where my praise ends. The controls are quite literally floaty as the character moves and jumps at the same speed whether going up or down. This is obviously by design and in the right game isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't feel dynamic in any way which makes it harder to get in the groove as there's no feedback to your movements. Sure, one could "git gud," but there are a plethora of better feeling platformers out there to dive into rather than grinding boredom here. The levels are somewhat interesting, with your requisite enemies, spike traps, platforming, and other staples of the genre. There are 3 stars per level: Collect a certain amount of coins, don't get hit, and beat the level under a set time. Further levels will open up as stars are collected. This rapidly becomes mind-numbing after even just 5 or 10 levels as there is no variety to them, and the fact that they are required to progress feels very much like a wall just for the sake of it. There is no satisfaction to completing the objectives. As a final nail in the coffin, afte…
