Didnt enjoy the game. Characters are stereotypes just pasted inside the game, story plot and its flow feels very disconnected and senseless. The flow of the game in general feels weird. Too many playable characters that gets swapped constantly, with new equipments popping up everywhere, without really need to all those changes, and a battle system that's confusing. Wouldnt say its a bad game, but its wasnt fun for me.2 found this helpful
Deviates from the standard JRPG formula in several ways, and does it quite well. Story is rather bland, but gameplay makes up for that.1 found this helpful
The combat system is clunky and boring. Many character abilities are not impactful. There is a strong emphasis on buffs and debuffs, but you can’t see buffs on your own party or debuff buildup on the enemy so you can’t really optimize the combos they want you to. The story, graphics, and music are ok but nothing amazing. Characters have distinct personalities, but aren’t memorable. Maybe grab it one day when it is 90% off, because it isn’t horrible…just mindless gameplay with simple systems, even on hard.1 found this helpful
It was alright. The story was interesting in the beginning, but by the end it became a bit messy, I didn't know what was happening with the final boss. Literally no idea who it was, who took it down before since it talked about that, I have no idea. The
betrayal
also seemed a bit out of nowhere, just eh. It also didn't have much impact since
though I used her a lot for fights, she's not really used a lot in the ACTUAL story, in fact the end portion was mostly Psybe, if he got taken out that would have been terrible, I think I'd have actually been sad there.
The characters were pretty cool though. The gameplay was cool, plenty of character by the end, each I think had their own thing, sort of, though I mostly stuck to just a few. All the enemies looked interesting and varied which was neat. It was also great that you could change difficulty at any time because, though it wasn't that hard with Heroine, some battles were tough but nothing impossible, there was just so many battles in a row at times that in the end it felt more like I was wasting time, so I switched to tourist and I don't regret it. I also quite liked …1 found this helpful
As a huge fan of 16-bit RPGs I enjoyed this game. The music is superb. The artwork is excellent. The retro animations are great. Exploration is fun. Combat is solid. Environments are interesting. The game took a bit to get going but grew on me. I found the general gameplay loop (explore, fight, talk, repeat) satisfying. The writing is mostly forgettable but doesn't get in the way of the overall experience. The characters are too shallow to care about. The smirky girl-bosses are cringe and far too common. Item management and character progression felt like an afterthought. Overall a decent and worthwhile retro RPG experience.
This is fun old school 16 bit JRPG romp. I would recommend!
