About Cosmochoria

Cosmochoria is a love letter to old-school action / arcade games like Asteroids, Sinistar, and Mario Bros. Cosmochoria is a mesmerizing way to kill hours: hopping between planets, unraveling forgotten mysteries, killing aliens & giant space monsters and planting mysterious seeds to sprout new life across a long-barren galaxy.

You play the role of a tiny pink naked cosmonaut who 'finds himself' in a distant galaxy. While no story is immediately apparent, consecutive games will begin to reveal some of the deeper mysteries surrounding the universe around you.

You are free to roam the galaxy in search of these secrets, or to remain on a single planet, establishing a home base to fight aliens and tend to your galactic garden.

Game Features:
  • So much Pew Pew Pew High Score arcade action.
  • Super secrety mystery STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS for unlockable braggeryness.

The very first thing you'll see upon opening this game is the misaligned UI for the language select screen. Immediately afterwards, you'll realize that every single menu in the game has this problem. Main menu, artifacts, high score, options - none of them have a properly aligned highlighted option. Additionally, the icons on the upgrade screen when you start a subsequent playthrough after your initial one overlap the text describing what each upgrade does, so it's very difficult to understand what you are upgrading. Although it's fairly easy to understand the gameplay, there's no tutorial. There are like 20 text boxes that show up in the first 60 seconds on your first playthrough, so you have no time to read or absorb the information presented in font size 6, especially since you will also be busy dodging projectiles and firing at the rapidly-spawning enemies. Combined with the buggy UI, this makes for an exceedingly poor first impression. After reviving 2 planets, you are immediately thrown into the first boss battle with a pretty crazy difficulty spike. The AI for the pewpew towers (defense turrets) often prefer to shoot at the ground instead of at enemies. It's very rare for me…

Dude, this game is BORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING Unlike all of the other reviews, I had no problem just being dropped in to it with no tutorial or whatnot. I thought the game looked cute and bought it forever ago and now im finally playing it, but yeesh this gets dull so fast. The plot is scattered around the randomly generated star systems with reckless abandon, the modifiers you can unlock are whatever, the upgrades dont make the game feel better to play, moreso they make the tedium very slightly more tolerable. You have to grind SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCHHHHHHH money, man. You need absolutely obscene amounts of money to unlock all of the upgrades, and too many of the achievements require random chance. You would have to waste like 40 hours on this game in order to max out the upgrades, which I am not doing dude. I genuinely just spawned in the achievements and was like, welp, nothing was lost! I never ever spawn in achievements from cheating unless I absolutely know there is nothing worth pursuing in a game, as I have done some diabolically evil achievements on my perfected games list without ever thinking of cheating, but this game is just mindless. Don't buy this game, get something else. t…

This game is such acute little time killer. Exploring the different planets and growing them bigger is so much fun. Definitely recommend if you're bored.

Cosmochoria is a surprisingly addictive little gem — what started as a quick arcade session turned into hours of jetpacking between planets, planting seeds, and fending off relentless alien waves. The core loop of terraforming planets while defending them has a zen-like quality to it, even when things get hectic, and watching a barren rock bloom to life never really gets old. Permanent upgrades carry over between runs, which gives each death a sense of progress rather than pure punishment, though the early grind can feel slow before you've unlocked a few things. The procedurally generated galaxy keeps things fresh, and there are enough secrets, NPCs, and cryptic artifacts scattered around to reward curious players. It's not without rough edges — the lack of in-run saving stings, and repetition does set in over longer sessions — but for the price, it's a charming and genuinely fun indie experience.
