About Crow's Nest

Be the pirate lord of Crow’s Nest!
Establish and rule over your own pirate's haven in this immersive city builder game. As the mastermind behind it all, ensure your crew of hardy pirates has all they need to live, thrive, and improve their quarters on your island.

Resource Acquisition
Managing a pirate base isn't only about building - it's about smart acquisition. Goods and resources captured from your sea exploits are important, but they are just part of your growing inventory. Cultivate your island, reap its resources, and ensure your stockpile is always full to keep your pirate base thriving.

Establish Order and Fear
Your swashbucklers have captured prisoners during their high-seas adventures who are the lifeblood of your island's development. Maintain control through order and fear. Be careful though, you must meet their basic needs to prevent mutiny.
Develop Your Refuge
Provide your crew with plots of land for building and upgrading their own homes. Also, construct taverns for them to enjoy good food and drinks, keeping their spirits high.

Seize the Seas
Your crew thrives on piracy. They don't build ships - they seize them, growing the fleet under your flag. Use these captured vessels for further exploits, bringing wealth and resources back to your base.

Author's note: This review will be revised if the game is ever fixed by the developer. Until then, abandoned games with at least one serious issue do not deserve praise.
TL;DR
2/10: Making a Tropico 2 copycat is a good idea. Introducing a game-breaking flaw (especially in the tutorial) and abandoning the game with good potential really hurts.
Overview
Remaining patient and making three good faith efforts to enjoy Crow's Nest lead to this nearly one year later: Guard towers cannot be built, and without these important items, captives will have a much easier time escaping. If it's the player's first time playing and they feel like they need the tutorial, then the game becomes soft-locked and the player will be unable to proceed in the tutorial. As for the game itself, Crow's Nest is a Tropico 2 copycat in which the player manages a pirate haven in real time (and with a lot of recycled terminology) starting out by having captives cut down trees and then building a sawmill so that timber can be used to build a plethora of buildings to house and tend to pirates and captives a like. Farmland needs to be designated to …

Really excited to see where this games goes. Pretty bare bones at the moment in terms of content and features but the core of the game is reminiscent of the most underrated Tropico game, Tropico 2. Art style and soundtrack are 10/10.

Takes a lot of inspiration from Tropico 2, a lot of potential but it is very simple as I write this. I will be keeping close eye on it.

Very early access. Won't allow delete and cancel of most buildings. Won't finish some tasks. Loading doesn't work a lot of times. Can't wait for the game to be polished, because the first few minutes I was able to play seem fun, but it is not quite ready to play yet. I would call it pre-alpha, because there are too many issues to not allow further play. Update 7/16/2024: Have to change to not recommended due to lack of any developer comments and work on the game. I think it's done, and in that case is not playable at the moment.

Still very, very EA. Demolishing doesn't work, some parts of the tutorial can't be done (build a watch tower), because they're not in your menu... So, nice take on Tropico 2, but so far a lot is missing. A very cautious yes.
