In the open Koran City, you can freely enter various locations, such as residences, shops, warehouses and more. During the exploration, you may trigger events or encounter other survivors. You influence them, and they influence you in turn.
You will survive with several NPCs with unique personalities. By giving them stuff they need or find interesting, you can increase their favorability towards you. As a result, they may show their gratitude by offering different forms of assistance. Perhaps you can even find the other half in your heart during the journey.
