Super fun. Started out lukewarm on it and felt like it needed better mapping or was a little repetitive. As you get further in you get the flow of combat and the map and it goes really fast. Only thing I would change is a little aid to the player upfront. Just a little help screen saying that the bell is fast travel, it shows the keys you have and the ones you don't.

I'm always on the hunt for new and unique indie games and EchoBlade was one that piqued my curiosity. The concept seemed quite interesting, so without spoiling the game for myself too much with trailers, gameplay videos etc. I decided to give it a try. Almost immediately I realised that this is less of a game and more of a tech demo, something you would potentially show investors before getting into the full scale development. The core concept of the game, vision through sound, is there but both that as well as the rest of the game feels extremely bare bones, repetitive and boring. Frankly I would've given up playing after an hour, but thought I'd give it the time of day to change my mind - perhaps the ending sequence was going to be better? Nope, more of the same enemies, traps and room layouts. I won't even touch on the bugs in this game, but know that there are quite a few. The non-sale price for it is £8.50, which in absolute terms is cheap but frankly too much for what almost feels like a game jam game. Fundamentally the idea is cool but the execution is just not there and this one really needed a lot more time in the oven.

This really feels more like a tech demo, and I can only not regret my purchase because I got it for like a dollar. There's a ton of basics that are missed, and the controls are not too intuitive. Happy with the concept, not happy with the execution.

Heard about this game at TooManyGames in Philly, but didn't get to play the demo while there. I'm glad a friend of mine did and recommended it! It was a fun game, though I did escape and it didn't get the achievement for it. The combat system is fun, and there is a lot of potential. I think for the current graphics and asset variety, it's a good length, with interesting level design. I do think there are a few things I would want to see in the future. One is, at a certain point it becomes very hard to level up since xp resets when you enter a new area. I also was taken by surprise by the ending, it felt like there was a boss fight I somehow missed, and it felt a bit like a normal level then just led to outside. Overall, I liked this game and see it has a lot of potential. adding difficulty modifiers would give it more replayability too, and I would absolutely be interested in playing this again. 7.5/10 right now, very much worth the price, especially if development continues. to the devs: Keep up the great work! Really fun game, love the movement system and level designs, and the combat system is one I felt really good about.

I got the opportunity to play a small demo of EchoBlade at a gaming convention in 2023. In 2025 after going through my steam backlog I remembered this game so I decided to finally write a review on it this year. The goal is simple: you are a no named prisoner who’s trying to escape out of this pitch dark dungeon with very little light. Luckily for you got an echo location or just very good hearing. For the true experience I recommend after beating the game to lower the brightness to the lowest and really using just your headphones to move around. There is a skill tree with my favorite one being the ability to shoot three arrows with your bow. As you progress through the map you get more freedom to choose the path you want in order to get keys with some having boss battles or platforming involved. In combat you can swing your sword with light and heavy attacks with lunge attacks to surprise the enemy. So you can really take your time timing your blocks and attacks. Or you can go guns blazing or in this case swords blazing by being aggressive with your weapons like your playing doom. Games like this is when I would appreciate a side-ways-thumbs as a review. Let me explain. The controls are very limited, the crossbow is meh and the arrow drop whatever. The CPU logic is.... very limited. You can cheese any enemy (bosses included) with backwards slaws or just by standing in a hallway. The CPU freaks out. All in all I am super weird and I enjoyed this game. However, I know what the regular-gamer likes and this is not a game for this price point. The idea is super cool... but you will be running in circles since there is no map or a way to know where to go. I play this after a long day at work and is a nice way to decompress. To sum: nice idea, basic controls and weird story -> get it during a sale. Update after completing the game. I cannot recommend this mess. I encountered couple game crashing bugs where a dungeon wall was not loaded -> I went down and I couldn't restart. Had to alt+f4 The UI itself does not work as it should. You cannot press B in controller or esc on keyboard if the cursor is not on screen. Some achievements did not trigger the first time - had to retry the level. Overall annoying game with zero sense of orientation or goal.
