End of Lines

美术和故事性都蛮不错的，剧情根据选择的不同有很多分支，对美工来说应该是很大的工作量。一开始的行程中穿插了很多年轻时和家人的闪回有点让人摸不着头脑，玩的时候会有点割裂。到了后面五六章开始回忆和Nora的相遇才慢慢渐入佳境，蛮有启发性的一款环保游戏，推荐

Incredibly bleak. And unforgiving. And beautiful. Like watching a time lapse of a body's decomposition. Seeing the body slumped against the tree trunk, deteriorating and then slowly becoming a part of the tree, then covered in roots and then covered in flowers and surrounded by fallen leaves. You want to look away, but you just.... can't. Are we all just helpless bystanders waiting for the inevitable? Or are we the architects of our own demise? The latter implies agency and, if that is the case, then perhaps we aren't so helpless after all. But how do you stave off the inevitable? And once you have the answer, will you also have the will to do what needs to be done? Even if you may not live to see the fruits of your own labour?

[h3]Speed Runnable[/h3] It's hard to build an emotional attachment to the characters in a text-on-graphics game. But I played in scanning or fast mode and completed, in little over 3 hours, it was, well a bewildering story. End of Lines, is a story about the end of the line for refugees, the splitting of families, an end for life on earth under a hot sun. A sun which you can feel baking on your shoulders even through the fabric of the tent. The heat is overpowering, even at night it feels hot, and it's only a game. I'm going to suggest people play it a bit more slowly than I did. [h3]Scorched[/h3] Violence, guns, corpses, death. You have now been warned. The story takes place in a very harsh and ruthless world. The story boards are beautifully hand painted, and you can get a general idea of who each character is quite quickly. The landscape is a vast hot desert, fires and smoke pour from the artists pen and you even feel hot. The game mechanics are all I'm going to describe, because to tell you more will give away too much of the game. For starters, you only get to learn much later, if decisions you make were good or bad. The game also leaves all accomplishments for the very end…

A gorgeous story of post climate apocalypse refugees struggling to survive in a world ruined by their ancestors. You balance simplified resources and morale while making major decisions about their actions as they look for a safer, better home. I appreciated the game's punishment when I tried to hit a perfect balance of situations. To paraphrase Noah Gervais: there is no disco option. You must make tough choices and live with them. Definitely worth a playthrough or two.

I found this to be a very thoughtful view of a future wrecked by climate change. It kept me interested the whole time, good pacing, always something going on. I have only done one play through so far but there is a summary page at the end that shows what achievements you unlocked and it looks like there is much more to discover. I tried reloading at some choices but got the same outcome, so it seems like the choices you make throughout the game accumulate, which is neat. The writing is pretty good, didn't notice any spelling or grammar mistakes. Learned a couple new words. The story has some real emotional weight to it and is an interesting take on climate change. Decent length as well, not too short but doesn't drag on either. The art style is very nice to look at in my opinion. Also, this game covers a culture and location that isn't often seen in games (Sahara/Spain), which gives it some uniqueness. Anyway I liked it, probably come back to it later and see if I can get a different ending.
