I was NOT expecting an RPG of this stunning, old school caliber when I bought this game. In fact, I don't even remember why I bought it but it was probably a recommendation from a friend in FF14. This is damn near as perfect and polished as an RPG gets. Bear in mind, this comes from an old-school Final Fantasy lover who learned to add and subtract from the battles in Final Fantasy 1 back in the 80s. The fights are *very* well tuned, there are quality-of-life things in this game that supersede any other RPG I've played that takes away any tedium, The story is playing with deeper existential themes than usual; you can tell that Sakaguchi and Uematsu especially are pulling from 40 years of creative experience and here present one of their finest works, visually, musically, everything. It's non-pretentious and beautiful. I won't spoil it, but when you realize what's going on with the scenery and environment design, it's really trippy and delightful. I've never seen that before and it made this game sparkle. The NPCs are even delightful. They all develop little story lines as the game goes on that are not droll. Very few conversations without a purpose. Exploration is *very* f…

I'm absolutely mixed about this game because it's way, way too expensive for what it is. - The story and characters is generic, often boring and confusing. - The battle system is mid; there are true novel ideas, but they were not exploited to their fullest and feel limited and repetitive. - The music is really good, thanks to Nobuo. The Final Fantasy remixes are a truly nice touch. - Again, I think I'm playing this just to experience the music. Thanks Nobuo. The price point is what really makes me post a negative review, The gameplay and 3D elements feel like an indie title. it's 2x too expensive. Don't buy this unless it's at least 65% rebate, else you'll feel ripped off.

The art style is top notch and unique I love it literally an old school Final Fantasy like RPG style with a flavor of it's own.

Fairly good classic turn based jrpg with some good, fairly strategy heavy boss battles. Getting the plat is an arduous journey, in that way, it's good value for money.

A handful of hours into the game now and after a fairly slow start it does pick up. Story is somewhat predictable but has a charm and a bunch of pop culture references hidden away for those who look for them. Standard difficulty is very well tuned. If you enjoy a traditional turn based JRPG, this one is rock solid.
