About Fishing Paradiso

Bad news: you’re dead. Good news: at least you made it into Heaven!
When you first awaken in the afterlife, you find yourself on a tiny deserted island in the middle of the ocean. No pearly gates, no choir of angels to greet you—just a couple of palm trees and an annoying little bird to keep you company. For a place called Heaven, it sure doesn’t feel much like paradise. There’s no shelter to protect you from the elements, nor even any food to eat. In fact, the only thing here at all seems to be an old fishing rod lying down by the shore. Looks like you’re gonna have to learn how to fish.

Thankfully, you won’t have to go it alone for long, as you’ll soon be given access to your very own boat, as well as a fancy little doodad called a “skyPhone.” With this, you can plan out fishing expeditions, upgrade your gear, and take on requests from the various denizens of the afterlife. By fulfilling their wishes, you’ll grow closer to each of these friendly souls, and eventually, gain access to new fishing spots and even more interesting types of fish, with each step bringing you closer to uncovering the mysteries surrounding the legendary God Fish...

Fishing Paradiso is a narrative-driven adventure game designed to be both therapeutic and engaging with its relaxing gameplay and RPG-style progression systems. The more you fish, the more the game opens up with new environments to explore, new story objectives, and new characters to meet and befriend. With over 100 different types of fish to catch, not to mention dozens of upgrades to unlock, furniture to collect, there’s never been a better time to set sail and see for yourself what surprises paradise has in store!
Work for the sake of work, not for wrongdoing
This game holds a special place on my list of favorites. It's extraordinary — not in some flashy way, but in its inner strength. It perfectly combines cute pixel art, meditative (even if sometimes a bit monotonous) gameplay, and a relaxing soundtrack. It's a direct continuation of Bear's Restaurant, which I wrote about before, but if the "Restaurant" was about human destinies and sins, Fishing Paradiso is a story about self-discovery. BR: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199217001154/recommended/1687550?snr=1_5_9__402 The protagonist ends up in a kind of personal paradise and tries to find the answer to the question: "What is happiness?" And he does it through work — through fishing. You catch fish, earn coins, level up your skills, and meet characters (both new ones and familiar faces from the previous game). The game doesn't ride on the success of its predecessor; it adds new jokes and new meanings. What I especially like is that the game doesn't try to sink into a dull depression or horror, even though there were moments like that in 'Bear's Restaurant.' The story is not tiring, and even after the credits, ther…4 found this helpful
My first game from Odencat, as fun as i remembered!! (this is my second time playing haha) It'd be so much better if you've played Bear's Restaurant though, each character's background story was told there. While this game can be played on its own, it's more like a continuation story from Bear's Restaurant ^^1 found this helpful
Super relaxing, heartwarming game :)) I wasn't expecting it to hit me in the feels but it did <3
Love this game. Its the easiest game to pick up and play on the steam deck. Music is so relaxing, gameplay is so easy, characters relationship become heartwarming. This devs games are now on my radar
Chill fishing game with a fun cast of characters, dialogue was a bit cheesy at times but it was alright for the most part. I enjoyed discovering every fish, and enjoyed my time from start to finish. However I did have an issue with catching fish which kind of stinks considering it's the only thing you really do in the game. For whatever reason when you reel in a fish there's a very good chance that it just gets "stuck" at the bottom of the screen and continuously bounces up and down until the game decides you've been reeling in for long enough, and forces the fish towards the zone that considers it a catch. I think making the catch area bigger would avoid this problem entirely, and would save a lot of time considering how many fish you are going to be catching. Also the game is a bit too grindy if you go for every achievement, specifically the achievement to fully upgrade the fishing rod. The prices for them are way too high, and the money you get for catching fish is kind of low until the final area. I had finished up every friendship with every character (which gives you money) and gotten a message that said I had caught over 2000 fish, and I still wasn't close to the fully up…
A beautiful game. The story is moving and inspirational. The gameplay has a lot going for it. I had played this on my phone and loved it and needed it for PC. Definitely worth it for a cozy fishing game.
