Fruitbus

I just finished playing the 'Banamas' map recently and I've been enjoying this game a lot than I initially expected. Bought this game because of the art direction, thinking it would just be something cute and fun! Quite surprised to unpack and got a narrative-driven game to sit with the themes of loss. I love how the story addresses the loss of a loved one openly, and how it does not romanticize the deceased. The metaphorical symbolism and significance of the old Fruit truck being an active process that mirrors Pumpkin's healing and navigating their grief as you travel across island to island, getting to know your beloved Grandma throughout the townsfolk dialogue and memories of her. Exploring the vast island, discovering new fruits and getting to know the characters in the game has been such a treat! The game mechanics isn't perfect and feels a bit clunky with bugs here and there, but it never really gotten to the point of it being frustrating to me. I also found it interesting that the game is designed to be played at your own pace, which also adds another layer to the games narrative. That the process of grief cannot be rushed (but, maybe I'm thinking deeply about this haha)…

I have played this game for a day and more, and it is very very fun, as I have also played twice. This was due to a glitch that made it impossible to complete the Banamas while i expanded through the story... But i'm glad I did. It made me have a brand new experience, giving be more time to appreciate what is Fruitbus. but, some newbies may be asking "What IS Fruitbus?" Well, Fruitbus is a very fun vehicle-driving game where you go all around the world selling salads, smoothies, sandwiches, soup, and stir-fries. Your main task is to invite the main guys, such as your mother, a food critic, and a radio guy, to your Grandma's funeral. The sound and look of chopping up the fruit (and veggies!) is so satisfying, music to my ears. although a bit of the sounds is questionable, but other than that it is an amazing game from amazing people! P.S. the ending almost made me cry, I hope you will feel the same sentiment.

I had a pretty good time with this! I do wish there were fewer bugs - it was frustrating to have to re-reorganize my bus after half of the fruit bins stopped having collision, among other things - but the collecting and making food aspect was so fun that it offset the bugs.

Definitely recommending this game to everyone who'd like to play a calming and cozy game! Had a lot of fun working on the smoothies and gathering the resources with great amount of tasks and tips. Even though it was quite tricky yet it was easy to be tackled. Might play it again soon!

I loved this game SO much that I finished it over a year ago and decided now to write a review because I cannot find anything to scratch the itch this game did. Forever yearning to play this for the first time again.
