About G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra
Cobra rears its ugly head yet again and it's up to G.I. JOE to save the world! Embracing the 1980s era of the iconic universe, Wrath of Cobra is a retro side-scrolling beat 'em up. Play as one of the legendary G.I. JOE characters, including Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, Snake Eyes, and more. Defeat hordes of Cobra troopers, Vipers, Crimson Guards and more of Cobra’s malevolent machinations.
Bring Cobra down, striking back at the likes of Destro, Serpentor, Baroness, and Cobra Commander himself! Fight your own way: Rely on your fists and get up close and personal using each character's unique combos and special moves or keep your foes at a distance with a variety of weapons!
Bring Cobra down, striking back at the likes of Destro, Serpentor, Baroness, and Cobra Commander himself! Fight your own way: Rely on your fists and get up close and personal using each character's unique combos and special moves or keep your foes at a distance with a variety of weapons!
- Retro Gameplay in a Modern Era: Wrath of Cobra takes the classic arcade beat 'em up and brings it into the modern age: Easy to play, hard to master, and smoother than a ride in a H.I.S.S. Want to play with your friends? The game supports local multiplayer (eg. from your couch)!
- Play as Classic Heroes: Fight Cobra as your favorite G.I. JOE heroes, painstakingly recreated in beautiful pixel art. The differences between characters aren’t just cosmetic: Each hero has different movesets and unique abilities. From the fast and nimble Snake Eyes to the rough and tumble Roadblock, each character is true to form!
- Battle Iconic Villains: Cobra isn't just the Cobra Commander, it's also its legions! Face hordes of troopers, armored Alley Vipers, artificial B.A.T.s, armed with some of the most iconic weapon systems in the franchise, including the H.I.S.S., C.L.A.W., and the notorious Trubble Bubble.
- Retro-Infused Soundtrack: Foil the Commander's plot to the beat of classic G.I. JOE themes, reimagined by industry veterans at Kid Katana Records, bringing a modern twist to classic arcade music!
- Post-Launch Support: Like Destro's plots, Wrath of Cobra will continue with extensive post-launch support, bringing more G.I. JOE heroes into the fray, adding new game modes, levels, and more to keep the G.I. JOE legacy alive!

We really wanted to like this game. The game is very glitchy and sometimes crashes for no reason and you have to start the level all over again. This is especially frustrating when fighting Ultra Cobra Commander. No matter what we do it will crash out on the last level an prevent us from beating the game even though we still have lives and health left. I would not recommend this game unless you would like a very frustrating experience. This game has not been optimized properly.1 found this helpful
If you like old school beat em ups like Final Fight, you will like this. Good graphics, good music, GI JOE fan service, and it's fun.1 found this helpful
This game was GI Joe in name only. It to me was clearly a cash grab. They made the characters LOOK like the 80s cartoon, but none of the original audio samples (like for the guns), music, or voices. If it was a license issue, why didn't they even try to midify the original music from the cartoon? Anyone can do that right? But even if they did, the core game play is just not there. A few familiar locations and enemies viewers of the cartoon will remember (member berries) And I have been playing Beat Em Ups all my life. This one is forgettable. Imho it was a shameless cash grab cashing in on the nostalgia memberberry value to Gen-X. 1 out of 5.1 found this helpful
I wanted to like this game. I've been growing a soft spot for the GI Joe franchise, mostly because of the "Energon Universe" stuff that the comics have been doing lately. (If you know, you know.) Unfortunately, this game is a buggy mess, the cutscenes are unwatchable, the gameplay isn't fun, and the achievements are trash. Ignore this game, it's not a fun time.
The combat mechanics in this are freaking awful. I won't say it's the worst beat'em up I've ever played because surely I played something worse in the 90s, but it's the worst beat'em up I can remember player.
If you're a fan of G.I. Joe and/or like beat em ups, you'll probably enjoy this game! The gameplay is really simple and the game can be beaten in 2-3 hours if you're looking for something short to play. One thing I do like is how the game nails the feel of the 80's cartoon, it felt like an extension to the original show! I would recommend this game if you can get it on sale because of how short it is, as I feel $25 for a few hours of gameplay might be difficult to justify.
