Grisaia Phantom Trigger Vol.2 builds on the foundation of the first volume, further establishing Mihama Academy’s new team and the kind of missions that define their lives. It continues the series’ mix of everyday interactions and serious, often grim operations, using the contrast to highlight how unusual “normal” has become for these characters. This volume feels more confident in its structure. It spends less time simply introducing the premise and more time developing rhythm: quiet scenes that reveal personalities, followed by sharper turns into danger and consequence. The pacing can still be brisk, but it generally gives key moments enough space to register emotionally. Character chemistry is one of the strongest parts. Vol.2 uses banter and small domestic details to make the cast feel cohesive, while also showing tension under the surface—differences in values, fear, and the need to appear capable. The story keeps reminding you that these are teenagers trained for extreme situations, and that contradiction shapes how they relate to each other. A competent and fun VN, really showing off the sgrengths of the series with its character writing, and still suffering the flaws of the Phantom Trigger series in wanting to be ero yet settling for tame ecchi. Inohara is also a really fun addition to the cast.

Yeah, Volume 2 is [i]slightly[/i] better than Volume 1. There is more action, but it’s still not engaging enough in terms of story depth. Im not really hooked on what’s going to happen next or who the ‘final boss’ will be 5/10

This volume is rather uninteresting, I will keep reading, but this one left a bad impression on me, feels childish and tropey.
