✦ AI summary

Guacamelee is widely praised for its humor, charming writing, and well-designed metroidvania structure with satisfying exploration and ability progression. However, players note that boss difficulty is inconsistent, with most encounters feeling underwhelming until a sudden difficulty spike at the endgame, and some mention the combat could be more engaging overall.

Guacamelee is a really fun game, both in the sense that it's fun to play, but also that it's very humorous. The game is full of silly jokes and references that made me chuckle. If you're colorblind you might have some issues with some specific enemies, but nothing major.

An amazing metroidvania that I could say could be an great introduction into the genre. Easy positives to note is the laugh-out-loud humor and exciting to catch "easter eggs." The areas are all unique and very well designed. I have been playing a lot of Metroidvanias recently and this was one of the quickest/easiest in the genre. Definitely deserves to be talked about among some of the most fun. It is short enough to 100% on a dedicated weekend. almost 11.5 hours to 100% on my first playthrough with minimal external guidance.

I just finished my first completly blind playthrough and I have a few notes on the game. This game has its highs and lows. The way you unlock abilties and the overall progression of the game is very good. Beutiful story and music, but the combat is lacking. Fighting groups of enemies is very satisfying, but the bosses, not so much. Most bosses took me 1-5 attempts and weren't very memerable. But the last boss, which I won't spoil, took me over 50 attempts. Yes, it is mainly a skill issue but the difficulty curve spiking up at the end was not something I was expecting. I also feel like the game was a little short. Having the objectives shown on the map, really good feature, but it did get rid of a lot of exploration and cut the game short. Overall I give the game a 7.8/10. Its nothing spectatcular, but still a good game about mexican culture.
